Can anyone help me with poker tracking software? Can anyone help me with poker tracking software?

I don't know the first thing about poker software other than the actual sites that I play on. Now that I'm starting to get into internet poker more I think I would have to know about poker stats and poker tracking software. I assume that most players use some kind of software to keep track of themselves and their opponents, esspecially when multitabling. My questions are: what software do I need? how much does it cost? what can it do? and is there any debate as to weather it is ethical to use this type of software? Any information anyone can give me would be helpful.

There are 2 or 3 new products (next generation trackers) either in open beta test or commercially released that you need to be looking at. These ones I compared are PT3 and Holdem Manager.

I'm not aware of any reliable, complete comparison for these products. But you might find something if you search.

There's plenty of stuff on these forums to bring you up to speed a bit, including dedicated threads for the respective products. You can then have a look at the sites / forums for the products themselves to see about pricing etc.

Here's what I'd recommend (and what I did / am doing) based on some helpful advice I received here:
  • Do some research
  • Pick one and give it a go
  • Keep your eye on the others to see if you picked right
Good luck
