I am currently trying the trials of both HEM and PT3 before I decide which to purchase. I have imported a set number of hands into both programs and have noticed a difference in the EV graphs.

Both show exactly 883 hands. Both show exact winnings of $32.81. All other stats are the same on both databases.
HEM shows I have an expected EV of about $12 over these hands.
PT3 shows I have an expected EV of about $35 over these hands.

Does anyone know how the EV calculations are made on each of these programs?

What would be the best explaination you can think of to account for such a big difference?

I have now compared my EV numbers using specific games only.

When I only use HU NL hands the graphs correlate.

However when I only show CAP NL hands the graphs are way off. Therefore I can assume one of the programs has an issue with EV on CAP NL HHs.

Has anyone dealt with this and can anyone provide any insight into this?

Capped betting does not work properly in the PT3 EV chart at this point in time, but we are planning to fix this feature. Unfortunately I don't know at what point it will be fixed.

Capped games will throw off the EV of HM as well. Anytime you get all in, and other people continue action on later streets, it isn't possible to measure the true All-In EV. Eventually we will expand our EV functionality to include street-by-street EV.

I can understand why further action would affect the results, however this normally isn't the case in cap games as the cap is typically reached before a player bets his last chip. So therefore would the EV be relatively correct for CAP games?

I will ask the developer to respond so I don't put my foot in my mouth (any further).

I should have known better than to comment on EV.

EV for cap games should be fine in HM

AKo lose to Ako allin preflop
the ev difference is not fair
it's not a coin flop
i know it's 49% tie and 1% chance of winning/losing.
but when you actually lost, it's pretty unlucky.

To PT3 development team: If PT3 doesnt calculate EV correctly for a certain game, disable it from the EV calculation (just make the EV for those hands 0)...

Also, it still makes a lot of mistakes for NLHE, especially in multi-way all-in pots. You guys need to fix this. This alone is enough reason to not buy PT3, but to buy HEM.

That's what it does.

Hope EV by street is soon available.
