just wondering: I'm playing on two PC's (laptop, desktop) on a home network (LAN cable), and I'm spending hours keeping all my betpots, cardmods, HEM updates, etc etc up to date

I was wondering if there's a way to set up a mini server on my desktop, so that I can just play on my laptop, log into my desktop without having to update every piece of software on both computers. I know about "logmein" and that sort of thing, but that's laggy as hell and I don't think you can actually play poker that way.

I'm quite sure there must be solutions for this? Free solutions even?

You could run a Virtualbox server and connect to it remotely

how does that work? (sorry, not good at this stuff)
isn't there some "remote desktop via network" function in windoze vista?

Well you can use remote desktop, built into xp and vista. but i dont think you will get the type of graphics response you need for poker sites and mainly w/e HUD you use. It doesnt work very well at all for anything that involves fluid motion on the screen.

however, you can share out the c: drive on the main PC, then put your ahk scripts in a shared folder somewhere. on the other pc create a shortcut to the actual script that references the network location on the main PC. that way when you update the betpot on the main pc (and name it the same!) it will pull from that location for the other PC. make sense?

you can also connect to postgres on your main PC from other PCs, that way you have all yours hands importing into one place.

hem updates & card mods you would have to do manually on both PCs...

This may sound silly but....

what about loading all you poker "stuff" onto an external HD? USB makes it all plug and play.

this I already did, which is why I was wondering if it wouldn't be simpler to just use the main PC as a server
