Thanks Zam. I appreciate your kind offer. However, although I'm not rich I don't need money.

I made a conscious decision not to play on-line, and I want to stick to that decision.

But I have to admit, the tournament sounds like fun.

This from Ful lTilt...

Here at Full Tilt, we can set up real *or* play money tournaments.

Send an email to privatetournaments@fulltiltpoker.com with the
following information in the body of the email:

- Date and Time
- Game (NLHE, PLO, etc)
- Starting stack size
- Name of event
- The password you want entrants to use
- Entry fee (if any)
- Maximum number of participants
- I believe we can list prizes, even if you're gonna pay them out yourself
Setting these up might be a lot of work for the organizer...

BTW, I'd like to play this if I can play cheap. I'm not an online player, but have ~$20 on Full Tilt. I suppose that I could break down and figure out how to move money online.

not really it sounds pretty easy actually, of course were all gonna be paying rake if we set it up legitimately with the right buyin and everything, what would it be something like 23$ + 3$

This is really starting to sound like a lot more work than what's necessary. In the lone-wolf/libertarian spirit of the poker world, I thought we would send out the matches with a framework, you work out what you're playing, and let us know who wins.

This shouldn't be work. It should be fun. I'd prefer to keep it as simple as possible.

I prefer full ring, but this tournament sounds like fun. I'd like to play if there are still open spots. I can play on either FTP or Stars.

I envisioned it set up as free, using a stake holder.

maybe consider just having a normal MTT style tournament?

or do it shootout style?

Good idea. Assuming all the participants could agree on the host site, setting this up as a heads-up tournament or shootout sounds like the easiest way to pull this event together. Of course, players won't have the flexibility to schedule their matches at mutually convenient times - but it will keep things simple.

I set up a separate thread for hijacking, but I'll post here as well, since the inevitable tourney hijacking has crept right in.

The more you try to tweak this thing to your own tastes, the less likely its going to happen. This forum is no good at agreeing on any kind of MTT, or even a site or stakes.

Truthiness has offered a PLO8 HU tourney, and ...

'Either you're on the bus, or you're off the bus'

Don't ask the bus driver to make a special stop or detour. The more stuff you ask for, the less likely that this thing will happen at all.

Truthiness and Buzz - May I suggest a mostly locked sticky with the list of participants and updates from you, and to unlock this thread and let it get as ugly and hijacked as it needs to get.

well no ones trying to hijack really were trying to figure out HOW to make it happen, not change the structure or anything. Even truthiness said setting it up would be a lot of work if we were doing it with an escrow unofficially , etc.

I think the easiest way would be to setup a shootout style tourney on FTP or Stars since theyre the 2 most popular sites most people have money on one of them and im sure someone could set up Xfers for whoever doesnt have money on the one we pick

Sc00t successfully ran one of these on the Omaha-high forum (before he became a mod there). I'm not sure exactly how he did it, but I'll P.M. him and ask him to take a look at this thread and offer advice if he has any. Perhaps we can draw on his expertise and experience.

It should be very clear to everyone that 2+2 is neither sponsoring nor condoning this tournament, that it is purely a private tournament. I'll ask Mat Sklansky (forum director) to take a look at what we're doing too, in order to make sure we're not getting 2+2 involved.

Hi Frank - Thanks for yet another good suggestion. I'll unstick this thread and put the other one in place as soon as the details are worked out.

I think that agreeing on a data for a single night shootout tourney will be a bust, as nobody will be able to agree on dates or stakes. We've also tried to organize an MTT for this forum, and got a handful of people to show.

I think T's suggestions were as follows:
* One trusted party holds the 25$ each money (if 16 participants, that's $400) and distributes the prizes at the end of the bracket
* A sweet sixteen style bracket is organized
* Each HU bracket must be played within the space of a week, at a mutually agreed place and time. (Hint: Set up private tourneys.) The result is reported to the 'referee'
* The HU players can agree to play a higher stakes HU series, or the cheapest possible HU tourney as they see fit.
* It should take four weeks if an 8 player bracket, five weeks for a 16 player bracket

This makes sense in that its got some flexibility, and the stakes should not prevent anybody from going for bragging rights. And a big bonus, T seems to be providing the momentum to make this happen.

Buzz,

Got your PM and skimmed this thread a bit. I can offer some suggestions to whoever is running it.

I'd suggest whoever is setting this up, not be involved in playing or even be backing or gambling on this to avoid any sort of bias...that is unless EVERYONE in the MTT is fine with someone running and having stake in the MTT.

Have someone get in contact with pokerstars support as they are the biggest website, and I think most players have funds on that site. They are also by far the best support staff to work with and are very accomidating with these sort of requests. I'd suggest having the highest stake regular that plays on stars to email them, not someone that plays micro limits on FTP. Also, get into contact with them asap as it might take some emails back and forth to get the private sngs set up. They shouldn't, but if they do give you any flack or grief about creating these private HU matches, reference the HU matches that were created for the MSNL and HSNL forums toward the end of 07 and the HU PLO matches created for us at the start of 08.

Be sure to define ALL of the rules before any of the money is sent. Outline the exact buyin and payouts. The timeframe for each round and what happens if someone for some reason misses their match.

When the rounds start, make sure each player knows exactly who they're playing (stars name and 2p2 name).

Lastly, the person running this should let it be known that he'll have the final say if something odd comes up, just so everyone is clear if he has to make a ruling or something that the final decision is his (which is another reason he shouldn't be playing). Make sure whoever is running the MTT is able to be contacted easily. I'd suggest giving the players your aim name, an email address or something else just so that if something comes up they can contact the person running the MTT easily.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. If this is just a $25 buyin, you probably don't need to be so "official" but I guess it couldn't hurt and would avoid any potential problems.

Some excellent ideas here, in my humble opinion. Thanks Frank.

Looks like it's going to go.

I think we have to leave the final details to Truthiness, who is the one who will be doing the bulk of the work setting it up. Maybe Sc000t will offer him some good advice.

I have to continue to make it very clear this is not a 2+2 sanctioned event.

I don't want to take anybody else's place, but if you need a filler, I think there's a way for me to play in it too, and that seems to be all right, that is I would not be compromising 2+2 by being a playing participant. Sounds like fun to me.
