Is it standard to bet say a 8JQ board if a solid reg defends BB vs your CO or btn open? (In a vacuum that is)

That's a terrible board for an average tags LP PFR range.

-If by solid you mean weak-tight/uncreative it's still a bet
-If you're laggy (which you aren't or you wouldn't be asking), this is obviously a bet as this flop isn't great for a BB solid reg OOP call.

Yeah it seems I get cr'd a lot on these types of boards...so I'm either cbetting too much (and they are exploiting it), not laggy enough otb or not playing back enough. Also seem to get raised by someone IP alot if the flop comes K93 or something.Which is pretty shocking for my range.

solid regs will defend sometimes with kqqj type hands knowing that they can get paid off when they hit. Solid regs also know that this flop propably missed your hand and will throw in the occasional C/R bluff.

Mix in some c/bets with some checks behind when you are holding a hand like a2q7 and reevaluate turns. Also make sure you add some kqjt type hands to your opening range.

I'm kind of puzzled as to what level players are thinking on at 100PLO8 so I just try to play straightforward and cbet a lot.

IMO, C-betn becomes more difficult/interesting at roughly that level. There are still the fit or fold types, but you also start to see some agro opponents that never give you credit.

Perhaps you are c-betting too much; note that if you cbet 100% of the time , then the opponents are effectively getting something like 5:1 odds to call your preflop raise, that's enough for them to beat you OOP by playing fit-or-fold.
