History: SB has been playing like a maniac (as the stats suggest). A bottom 30% AA hand still has enormous value vs spewing fish obviously.

Perhaps a open and shut case but is this always a shove in this type of spot? Btw UTG said I runner runner'd him vs my "obvious hand"

With average aces like this you don't really want to encourage a multiway pot. I would be 3 betting the initial open to try and get it HU. With a maniac behind this gives you an even better chance to get it in pre if his 3 bet stat extends to 4 betting like a maniac too.

As played you have less than pot left postflop. Standard.

WP imo.

Flatting the min-raise with these aces is fine. 3-betting yourself over a min-raise is still going to be met with all decent hands flatting IP on you, so although streity's comments are fair I think more often than not you'll still end up in a multi-way pot (or even a HU pot) with a relatively face-up hand that will be tough to play.

Also no harm in encouraging a multi-way pot and hoping to deceptively smash the flop.

I think you played the hand perfectly. 3 bet to get HU preflop and then leading is a must as you have already committed over a third of your chips pre. wp

Thank you for your replies.

It's possible the maniac would've 4bet but I think this is the best line.
Worst case: I see a flop cheaply with a very disguised hand.
Best case: What happened.

The possibility of being able to 4bet outweighs the risk of playing a multi-way pot. I might advocate raising straight away with premium aces.
