I think the ev is more or less useless for the hypers, have skipped it. Have found the "Chips Won" graph interesting though, it doesn't totally correlate with the money won. When I was breaking even, and even losing moneywise for hundreds of tournaments, the Chips Won went somewhat steadily upwards, it was relieving in some way.
Probably the Chips Won graph has smaller variance, it notices when you win hands even if it happens not to pay out in that tournament. But it tells you there may be something you are doing right. ICM is something that comes to mind, how to play right on average at the right spots? Personally I think the split pot nature and the rapidly increasing blinds decrease the value of ICM and increases the value of equity thinking. But there certainly are spots where trying to get at least second place is worth trying. For example if you are second in chips and the third remaining player has very few chips.
