I mean this in a "cool" sense to hate americans, in that they don't really know the details but just know to quote bush, the environment, and mcdonalds.

For example, a group of canadian college students I met (all with their candian flags on their bags of course), none of them could tell me their independence day or close to anything about their history.

Point: don't walk the walk unless you can back it up, USA POWER!
I think it has a lot to do with the American belief that their world view is the be all and end all (I'm not saying all Americans believe this, but jingoism and over the top patriotism [eg. USA POWER] is rampant...especially in the red states). That pride can be hard to swallow when the country appears to be sinking under the weight of it's own hubris.

The Brits are known as the Americans of Europe due to their strong political ties. Unfortunately it appears some of America's core problems are also shared between the two countries. The UK tops Europe for illiteracy, obesity, divorce, drug use, crime, STDs, and teenage pregnancy.

I've lived in London for three years and locals often ask where in the US I'm from, but apologise profusely when I answer, "I'm from Canada". I'm not offended at all, but it does indicate to me that there's an implied insult if you call someone American.

Of course the Brits hate the French more, but there's a hell of a lot of history behind that dislike

And Canada Day is July 1st. It marks the day Canada was created in 1867.

More about ...The Universe... Do you think it´s smart to have new manned missions to the Moon ?

Please note: If I don´t get feedback on this one, you will be spared from more ...Universe... posts... But (pocket rockets) and (man in the Moon) will remain favourites...

I had to share this somewhat poker related saying I heard today while playing in a 4-8 half kill o8 game.

Guy sits with a rack plays like 5 hands in about a half an hour or so. He scoops a decent size pot and starts to pick up. Some older guy says, "you done Lenny?" he says yeah "see u tomorrow."

He leaves and me being the new guy I ask if he leaves after winning one pot alot. He only made about 20$ from what I could tell. An older guy says "If he wins a pot he leaves right then!" I say what if he loses?!

He says then he stays all day and night and then this older guy said the funniest poker anology ever!

Lenny eats like a bird and ****s like an elephant. I thought it was pure gold.

Congrats dorsal!!

Saw shutter island as well (couldn't change her mind) was slighty disapointed but only because she paid since I didn't wanna see it. I still had to buy dinner but I'm used to that.

Played some 7 game this morning on FTP w Andreas kostoynva (I hope I'm getting that right) from Russia. There's a 1st time for everything online he called (not on 5th or 6th street) with quads, 3 9's showing!

Has anyone watched Californiacation on showtime? Just watched an episode and I thought it was very good but not sure I wanna waste my life watching a show in 6th season. Is it worth getting season 1-5?

Live Dexter! I wouldn't be asking about other shows if I hadn't finished all the seasons in less than 2 months.
Top 5 favorite shows of all time.

1. The wire
2. Dexter
3. Curb your enthusiasm
4. 6 feet under
5. Always sunny in philidelphia

Seeing my list if you could recommend anything Id appreciate it and feel free to give your top 5 as well.

you didn't mention Sopranos, although I imagine you've seen it. Rescue Me, Weeds, and The Shield are all good for atleast the 1st 2 or 3 seasons, then I lose/lost interest. fwiw i lost interest during the 'newspaper' season of The Wire however never lost interest in 6' under. Entourage is amusing and Damages which I keep meaning to start to watch is supposed to be very good.

BTW there's a website tvduck where you can find episodes to stream online free, and for me (firefox with adbloc and noscript) atleast malware/virus free as well.

The March well poll is open for voting. It will remain open for three days.

It's a sticky at the top of the forum but it's not locked. In other words, you can post in the well poll thread, if you like.

There are four candidates. You may vote for all four, three, two, or one. Or you may choose the none of the above option.

Be advised that everybody will be able to see the way you vote.
