Not sure if this changes things, but this was from a HORSE tournament. This hand is kinda tricky to play preflop given the early position I am in and the UTG limper. Would anyone fold or raise? I'll post the results after some comments.

I'd raise preflop. As played, fold the flop for sure. Little to no chance of scooping, and you are often getting freerolled.

thanks for the reply.

I also wanted to clarify that I'm talking about fold or raising preflop:

dont know what to do preflop, I think the hand is too weak to raise, so I limp and try to have a cheap look.
flop looks like a fold, it's 3,5:1 now, but we are playin only for half, it could get more expensive and flush and board pairing is underway ...

Bleh. What Wack said. As played, I'd stay if it was a rainbow flop, but I wouldn't feel good about it until I saw two more safe cards, preferably low ones to instigate a multi-way raising war among the people who think their wheel is scooping. That's the only way you're getting real value out of this hand.

Since this is a tough decision on the basis of the cards involved, reason on the basis of what UTG probably hopes to achieve with the raise.

What do you think UTG wants you do do here?

Whatever it is, do something else.

If you think he wants you to fold, call or raise. If you think he wants you to call, fold or raise. If you think he wants you to raise, fold or call.

Based on the cards involved alone, I can't fault you for any choice you make.

I would definitely raise preflop, and fold the flop as played. You've succeeded in keeping the pot small, now let it go.

Second-best option is coldcall, pray that you still have the nuts on the turn, and jam then.

Yeah I think it's pretty rare that I'm playing well enough to fold this flop. Or if "playing well" actually means folding this flop in the first place. But it seems like with such a small pot it's the proper play.

It's so rare that I see 4way 4sb flops, so I'm not gonna be able to come up with any examples.

I'll play Scarn again, I'm sure....I haven't really been shying away from hu action.

^that's exactly what i mean. even if it might (not sure here) be the best play almost nobody will fold it.
would be easier to decide if player stats/reads were given i guess.

17 bbs u can find a better spot to get some chips in the middle... tournaments are about surviving and this one you are hoping for the high to hold with no shot at getting any part of the low...

Fold here but def raise pre here and try to get the blinds out of it...

the only way you scoop this pot is if it comes a 2 and nobody has A3. so that's pretty hard to do, so fold here.

and raise preflop.

Thanks for the reply guys, greatly appreciated!

Here is how the hand played out (I posted this cause my buddy was in my room when this hand went on and gave me a lot of crap for folding):

Flop: (4 SB) 4 5 7 (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets, UTG raises, Hero folds, SB folds, BB calls

Turn: (4 BB) K (2 players)
BB checks, UTG bets, BB calls

River: (6 BB) K (2 players)
BB checks, UTG bets, BB calls

Final Pot: 8 BB
BB mucks 5 J 2 J
UTG shows 3 Q 6 A (HI: a straight, Three to Seven; LO: 7,5,4,3,A)
UTG wins 4 BB
UTG wins 4 BB

btw, I had no reads on either play, so I guess that didn't make my decision lean towards one direction or another.
