I'd guess he meant you missed a bet on the turn. In other words he's implying if you bet the turn you would have collected, but betting the river is too late for you to collect a bet from him.

Of course he's trying to mess with your head, to put you on tilt, rather that giving you hints to improve your game against him.

He's implying that he was drawing and missed. For example, if he had two pairs or a set and the board paired on the river, you might be beaten by a full house. Or if he had a one card draw to a flush, and the river flushed the board, you might be beaten by a flush.

But keep in mind that he's probably trying to mess with your head, to "psych you out." And/or maybe he's trying to also get information from you. (Since he folded, I presume he didn't get to see your hand).

Buzz

I didn't say anything after that, as I figured he may have been obliquely trying to get me to tell him what my hand was. But it also seemed as if he may have put me on a flopped hand, rather than accept the "obvious" explanation that I had a draw on the turn and it filled the river. So, unsure

pretty obvious.. you had taken this line before and he's trying to make fun of you for not getting good value from your hand.

I don't think I could have got any more value out of it ..

95% sure betting the turn is the correct line to take IMO.
especially HU.
what made you think checking on the turn was the correct play?

Most likely I'd only check that turn, IFF, I am quite confident that villain will bet and I can C-R him.

I had no hand and extremely weak draws, was hoping to get a free card. Would have folded if he'd bet the turn. (I'm also the first to admit that I'm not very good at HU PLO8!)

why?

betting the turn is going to get about nothing to fold on that board, then if you whiff what cards are you betting the river on since you're going to be out of position with king high or some random pair etc that you river.

why does it matter what we have? what does betting the flop/potting the turn look like to villain? He is only going to call with either top or two pair and/or good low draw (need specific reads to be able to put him on a naked low)
I think because hero posted the results...the power of the turn bet can not be seen. We only risk 1/15 of our stack for a chance to win the hand/get information. I feel that is worth it especially since the blinds are still low

dont forget he's gonna call with any of 2 flush draws, low draws with gutshots, 34, AQ.. etc there are a ton of hands villain is going to continue with here on the turn and you're not really ahead of any of them. Imo unless you plan on triple barreling if you miss, then betting the turn is silly. You're bloating the pot oop with a weak draw/king high.

What's the plan if we bet 100 and get raised? fold? Or what about on a a, k, q, j, t, 9, 2, 3, 4, 5. On 2/3 of the deck you're going to have air on the river.
