Hello, probably my first post in this forum.

I have been playing a ton of HU HORSE SNGs, coming from a background in lhe and huhu lhe. In lhe, it is basically a mortal sin to not raise or fold preflop from the small blind. In the stud games, it is pretty easy to figure out when to complete and what not, especially in razz.

My main problem is in omaha 8/b. With my marginal hands like 66TJ or 78JJ etc, my default has been to limp in, but after playing the hold'em round where I was raising 80%+ of my small blinds, this looks like huge weakness.

Is there a correct strategy of never limping in in the SB in limit omaha 8/b when playing HU? I play just fine after the flop since I have played numerous hours of HORSE ring games and tourneys, it is just the preflop play that I am unsure about.

Thanks.

its fine to be that way...it is very player dependent as well. I have played well over 3K O8 and HORSE HU sit and goes from the $5 range all the way to the $50 range (that is when I figured out cash was much more profitable).

What I tend to do is feel out my player in the first couple hands (15 or so). If they are loose from BB, then I will limp/fold more out of small blind. If they are super aggro, I will limp/raise out of SB.

Also, it is very dependent on their tendencies after the flop. Say they are loose out of BB but are tight/passive if they miss the flop. I will raise 100% of the time and c-bet any flop. The amount of times they fold makes up for the amount they win from me when they connect (because I usually connect too).

Whew, those are skaggy looking starting hands. I wouldn't call them marginal. Even double suited the 66TJ hands stinks. Single suited or rainbow is worse.

You might be able to play (J8)(J7), the double suited version, but it's a tough hand to play.

Omaha-8 is quite a different game from Texas hold 'em.

I don't know.

Off the top of my head it looks like you're playing trash hands. That works better in Texas hold 'em than it does in Omaha-8 where you're more likely to encounter an opponent who has a decent hand and will stick with it.

I like what Knght says about it being very player dependent.

I personally fold J 10 6 6 in the small blind very often against all but the most weak passive opponents.
