• pre-flop: 4 3 J 2 or (J43)2 is not a very good starting hand, but I'd see the flop with it if I thought I could see the flop cheaply. (Note that although I'll always be a student of the game, I'm not a beginner. I would not advise beginners to play this starting hand.)

• flop: I'd bet instead of checking.

• turn: Fine.

• river: Raising isn't terrible but I'd call instead of raising. If UTG+2 has a worse low, I'd want UTG+2 calling, and if UTG+2 has the same low, it looks like I'm getting quartered.

Then when UTG+2 calls the double bet, my guess is UTG+2 has the same nut low as Hero, in which case Hero is probably getting quartered. At this point making it three bets is terrible.

But Omaha-8 is a funny game. Could be that everybody has the same low and Hero wins the high for four sixths. (However, it's more likely Hero gets quartered or even sixthed for low here and SB wins the high).

pre-flop: easy fold. 10handed and you are UTG? people don't fold in this game, and thus you can't bet people out and thus you MUST hit the flop hard to continue with this hand and then play OOP - too much to overcome unless you are an expert player, in which case, get out of the joker limit games.

flop: check is fine for me. you have a 2way draw, but 10handed it is really weak both ways.

turn: standard. not capping here is a sin.

river: I'm torn and in the 6-max game I'd be looking to cap it always, but in a 10-max I'd need some reads to want to put in more than 2 bets. of course this is joker limit poker and capping may be correct.

all-in-all I think you shouldn't have played the hand. in a 6-max game, this would be a totally standard play on ever street (except I'd have led the flop)

J234 is actually a sentimental fav of mine so I'll always limp with it if given a chance. I like your play on the flop and turn but on the riv I think you need to slow down. Most of the time I'd probably make the initial raise and after the 3-bet I'd want my money back. Like a few others have said, you might have the high if others are going wacko with just the nut low but I'd be shocked if you're not quartered after looking at all that river action.

The mark of a great player is knowing how control pot size and rationally evaluate your hand with the nuts one way. I played a hand tonight that illustrates this point:

Poker Stars $1/$2 No Limit Omaha Hi/Lo - 7 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

UTG: $175.35
UTG+1: $200.00
MP: $218.25
CO: $137.10
BTN: $160.45
Hero (SB): $672.65
BB: $186.95

Pre Flop: ($3.00) Hero is SB with 2 7 A 5
5 folds, Hero calls $1, BB checks

Flop: ($4.00) 6 2 Q (2 players)
Hero checks, BB checks

Turn: ($4.00) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB checks

River: ($4.00) 4 (2 players)
Hero bets $4, BB raises to $40, Hero raises to $240, BB calls $144.95 all in

Final Pot: $373.90
Hero shows 2 7 A 5 (HI: a straight, Four to Eight; LO: 6,5,4,2,A)
BB shows 5 K 7 T (HI: a straight, Four to Eight; LO: 7,6,5,4,2)
Hero wins $92.75
BB wins $92.70
Hero wins $185.45
(Rake: $3.00)

Tread lightly and don't overplay one-way hands when you could reasonably be quartered!
