Hi all,

20/40 limit mix game, this round is big o. Seems like a pretty good game, hero is holding his own even though he hasn't really played a whole lot mainly by picking good starting hands. Hero calls an open otb with AcJ554c and we are four ways:

($100): 5s-Kc-2d. Hero pots IP when checked to. Only a tighter older gentleman calls in the SB. We are HU.

Turn ($300): 7c. We have the set, nfd, and A4 for low (if needed). Wondering what you'd do here. We are $425 eff. going into the turn.

Thanks,
DT

big hand = big monies going in. i mean if you're asking about whether to say bet smaller here so you can finagle more river calls out of him, i still wouldn't do that because this is a favorable turn card for his range. OOP player check/calling on a 25Kr board will have way less sets/2p because of his line and because you have 55, and he'll be heavily weighted towards AL, AW, non-ace WW. he's just not gonna be folding turn a lot, so i'd wanna get my max value here with this given hand.

if he somehow has a better hand it's just a cooler. if he check/calls or check/pots all in with A3 and you lose to river 4 it's a cooler.

In general I'd say that when on the flop you have 5,25xpot behind and you pot, you are going to go with it to semi-blanks. So here your mind is already made up on the flop, plus the turn card is good for your hand. So to an experienced player your question is ridiculous and the only explanation is that you lost the hand.

Hand is a fold pre. A4 sucks for low.

From what I gather the pot was opened by someone in an unknown position and we call the raise OTB. For the record, I think calling is standard.

Preflop is only funny cuz the guy said he is playing really tight then cold calls with a hand that is fairly borderline. But we can't really answer the preflop question without knowing the ante structure. I'm pretty confident in saying is a fold preflop in a zero ante 40 bb cap game and never a fold if they are stripping the blinds in the usual way and the structure is something like 1/2/2 in the middle. Flop I think we can size smaller but it doesn't really matter.
