Villain is 8/2 with 40% agg frequency over 25 hands. The table was pretty tight passive preflop in general and there wasn't much action at all postflop. (Yes I had uncheck post blinds). Is my c-bet ok or should I consider checking back here sometimes? I'm not sure how likely the guy is to have better in his range but he is pretty nitty preflop so I'm thinking he would likely be unimaginative postflop.

Yikes! My guess is Villain has AKQJ or KQJT. If so, he's ahead by about 3 to 1. If we include the possibility of a set, he goes up to being ahead by better than 4 to 1.

Yikes!

On the other hand he could be bluffing with a check/raise.

I hate to bet and fold, but I think it's the prudent thing to do here.

Fold.

your bet is fine, only thing different you can do at times here is bet a little less. Its allows for you to get some value out light flop calls and also saves you a little knowing that you can't fade the heat if you get popped regardless.

Yeah a smaller bet may elicit some calls from weaker ranges. Its a good thought.

I don't hate checking back here with the backdoor low draw... if we're ahead only a jack or queen are terrible for us.. and if we're behind we call the turn bet with the nut low draw with two pair a lot of the time.. then we can make villians life hell on a lot of rivers

Extremely easy fold, if we're somehow ahead the villian deserves a high-five for a very nice raise.

Not only that, but if u get a call your still in position anyway so you would be able to evaluate your move on the turn. as it stands your looking to put in half your stack if u call and have no idea where u stand. Its probably best to fold in this situation.

Occasionally I don't mind checking behind them to see if i pick up a low draw or flush draw to go with it. Its probably going to be pretty rare that someone out of position is just gonna call your bet. most likely you will get check raised as they will probably put you on aces and try and get ya to lay down. If you check the flop here and the turn improves your hand then one of the villians comes out and fires you will also be able to control the size of the pot by either just calling or if u feel like gambling shoving and putting the decision on them.

given the description of the game there are almost no worse hands out that are calling a bet so i hate bet/folding 2pair here since we could do that with any 4cards. i would check back and try to spike a 4-8 which puts no str8 out and easily could make somebody a worse 2pair and we might get some value there against the nut low draw with worse 2pairs.

(having said that, i am not that experienced with this game so if this logic is flawed i can take it.)

No It's not and a check back is ok here at times just don't make it a default in these spots. There are more hands that will call a smaller bet lightly than will show up with a hand that is capable of a pot sized CR.

I would say it's smaller bet>check behind> occasional pot bet.

Def mix all 3 in and mix the betsizing as well as they all have a time and a place in such situations as the villains will vary.
