0.25/0.5 LO8: river bet/check?

UTG is tight-passive. UTG+2 is loose-passive. Is betting better than checking, given that in an already nice sized pot, betting can get weak lows and better highs to fold, or get worse highs to call, while a check-raise is so unlikely?

Given the results, I think I made a sound bet, based on the read that UTG had A2**/A3**. The play could work great for me if UTG had something like A37T (and called with second best high) or A28Q (and folded a low). well...
