lol. I would support a law that made it illegal to watch lesbian porno's and be a homophobe. Cause you gotta no a huge number of homophobes do just that and then rail against male homosexuality like there is no other.

People gotta make a choice. You can't masturbate to the thing you hate.

If you call someone a '***' for acting like a girl, that's not homophobic, it's effeminiphobia. I do it all the time (e.g. I think the Kurt character is a annoying ***) and I take it up the pooper. I love gay people, proud to be one, but I've no time for obnoxious queens so often over represented in the media.

Conversely I find liberals more often to be guilty of homophobia as opposed to effeminiphobia. They love their gays to be effeminate, vulnerable and charming, they'd have a harder time accepting some of the masculine gays I know (though they'd seldom meet them).

Heterosexuals will never understand gay people, because there is such a large element of gay life they'll never be exposed to.
Sorry to go back so far and bump this thread but I think I need to chime in on your opinions sundried.

I am gos and you would never tell, I'll admit that really effeminate queens sometimes bug me and tbh am not really attracted to them at all. That being said, I think it hurts our cause to discriminate against effeminate gay guys because it makes us more divided and causes a rift in the movement.

However I do agree with one of your points. The media really should focus more on typical gay guys to show mainstream America that gays aren't ridiculously effeminate outliers like Kurt but normal dudes who are just trying to live their lives. It's always awesome when people realize that there are so many people out there who are gay and don't fit the stereotype. I find that to be an aha! moment for some straight people who know very few gay people if I come out to them. They are usually shocked, then realize oh, most gay guys are normal, just the queeny ones come out because its obvious anyway.

Edit: I agree with 2 points not 1. The guy who made out with Kurt was waaaaay out of his league. No way that woulda happened irl.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you. In putting effeminate gay guys down, I was really just trying to convey that were not all alike and its possible to be gay and non-feminine, even effeminiphobic.

There's nothing I actually hate more then that 'aha!' moment. It's the most 'acceptable/polite' reminder that pretty much everyone still regard gays in highly stereotypical and prejudice ways.

That being said, I get the same reaction from plenty of gay guys too.

This one is the worst, I even know some gay guys who look down on you because you act like a dude. Then again I'm being kind of hypocritical, because I have some (obv not proud of this) subconscious negative feelings toward really flamboyant gays.

I dont know how to put 2 quotes in 1 post, but I lol'ed at the Weiner joke and pvn's response.

Well, in London we have two gay scenes... Vauxhall and Soho. In Vauxhall, no one would look down at you for being masculine as that's pretty much the majority.

In fact, being masculine is more or less a fetish at a lot of clubs here. For example,

Na, speaking from experience, that's not necessary.

You guys are lucky. I always wanted to visit a gay-heavy area that was relatively classy and not too in-your-face. And of course masculine guys help lol. We just have boystown in chicago, and you can't really get much more flamboyantly gay than there lol.

Vauxhall isn't classy, it's a druggy trash pit to some extent! It is very masculine though.

Soho is classy and has a variety of bars to suit different crowds but doesn't have any decent big clubs. The biggest club on a Friday night there is called CAMP ATTACK, go figure
