Would/will the Evangelicals and far right mobilize for Romney? Would/will the Evangelicals and far right mobilize for Romney?

But instead Jesus just wandered around hanging out with random societal outcasts and said a bunch of confusing stuff and told the people to pay their taxes, that if a roman soldier forced them to carry something 1 mile, they should carry it 2. If someone sues you for your shirt, give them your cloak as well. If someone punches you, turn the other cheek. Then he proceeds to not even attempt to lobby the Roman officials and just lets himself get killed.

Seems like Jesus is the opposite of the type of guy a bunch of people interested in "Taking back our government" would be looking up to.
Occupy Jerusalem! Damn unshaven, bearded, sandal wearing hippies don't even have jobs. Camping in public gardens! Yahweh save us!

The latest PPP poll provides some info relevant to the OP:

Another reason Romney's doing well and that Santorum's doing poorly is that social issues just aren't at the front of voters' minds this year...and Romney's neutralizing him on that front anyway. Just 4% of voters say that's their top concern this year. And when it comes to the candidate voters trust most on social issues Santorum only beats Romney 23-21 with Gingrich at 19% and Paul at 14%. Romney's also basically running even with evangelicals, getting 27% to 28% for Gingrich and 17% for Santorum. It's a pretty safe bet that he's going to win the state if he can maintain that standing. His religion continues not to be too much of an issue with only 23% of voters saying they'd be uncomfortable with a Mormon as President.

If he survives this week without an organized Christian counter stroke out of that Texas meeting, that may be it, outside of fending off Paul and Gingrichs backstabbing. What should worry him is that the next four contests after Florida are caucuses where Paul excels and organized Christians could outvote him.

I think the more pragmatic people on the right and the moderates who lean to the right have been steadily moving to Romney's camp. They may think he's not the perfect candidate, but what is the right's goal here? If it's to unseat Obama, then they should already have their mind made up as to what candidate to run. The Tea Party and others seem to have broader goals and they aren't realistic (or even desirable to many on the right). I think as time moves on, more social conservatives will be more concerned with unseating the incumbent president they really detest than quibbling about the significance of Romney being a Mormon.

I really do not think the Evangelical really understand how crazy a religion it is. When they do I bet they will still support him as he is a little paler than the current president

Evangelicals know a lot less about other religions than non-evangelicals. That's been studied before.

Let's say I accept your assertion (I don't but it doesn't matter) Does in necessarily follow that they would find mormanism "crazy" if they had more complete knowledge?

Will these kooks vote en masse if/when Romney is the republican candidate? It is the key to the election as far as I can tell.
Of course they will, who do you think they'll vote for?

Quite a lot of them would. The ones I know that learned about it said "wow, that's some crazy stuff".

Sure, not much crazier than a dude who walks on water and rises from the dead, but certainly crazier (just by nature of believing in that stuff too).

Raised in a strict Christian home I was taught that every other religion is wrong and going to hell. You are correct not all Evangelicals are racists.

Show me a Evangelical Christian Ill show you a hypocrit
