O RLY?

The SS issue is hurting Perry's electability, Romney polls much better vs. Obama:

It's absurd to me that:

a) Perry is bringing up SS
b) Perry is catching **** for being somewhat responsible on this issue. It is a ponzi scheme yo. You'd expect the weirder positions to actually hurt.

Yes to your first statement, but a lot of people just read headlines or hear something brief on the news, and think "Perry wants to kill SS".

plz lol. the gop primary is not a national one. mitt didn't win any single state that mattered, which is why he dropped out after super tuesday. that was the point that I was making. his campaign was a failure, even with talk radio and conservative mags behind him.

Was expecting Palin to endorse Perry; I'm guessing she doesn't endorse anyone this cycle, except perhaps Bachmann if Bachmann wins Iowa.

No offense, but is this really worth a thread?

I'm aware of that, see statement #1

Think it's a pretty big signal that the people that move and shape the Tea Party have rejected Rick Perry. Palin, Paul, and Bachmann all basically coming out and calling him a fraud or worse is going to be a big blow to his campaign. Perry came in to this campaign trying to hold up the Tea Party mantle and has already shifted so many positions to the right, that he can't be the establishment challenge to Mitt that he perhaps should've been.

Ikestoys,

I'm starting to get concerned about what you'll do when Perry is the nominee.

Who will you vote for in the general election? Anyone?

Yeah, but these are basically three people competing for the same job.

Via PPP Polls:

Bachmann is 2nd with GOP voters who think natural disasters are a message from God though. So at least she has that going.

Say what you mean. Don't make obviously false statements then hand wave it when caught.

I live in illinois, my GE vote has no importance.

I don't really like Perry, I just picked him as my horse to win the Rep Nom.

I'm pretty sure you didn't answer the question, which was whether you'd vote in the general election and, if so, for whom.

It's pretty weird to claim SS is a ponzi scheme.

Ponzi scheme seems pretty accurate actually. The main differences between SS and a true ponzi scheme are; SS is legal, and everyone under 30 knows they are going to get ****ed by SS. I'll grant that saying SS is a ponzi scheme is terrible politics.

At this point, I'm not voting unless something locally comes up. My US rep is going to be the same person. Ditto every other local election. Illinois doesn't elect a senator or a governor.

It'd be pretty ridiculous of me to not vote at all given that the place is literally in my building, but I have no reason to vote. I think I'd end up voting Obama for Pres as a vote for gridlock at this point though.

I noted that Social Security resembles a Ponzi scheme because while it presents itself as an investment program, in fact nothing is invested, and all participants are paid from the contributions of new participants.
