not sure if this was the place for it, but since some sort of politician voted "yes" for it, i thought i'd bring it up here...wtf is the deal with poor people being eligible for free cell phones? ummm, last time i checked, cell phones were not a need, they were a want. you can be damn sure if i start running out of it, and seriously need money, i am getting rid of my cell phone until I can AFFORD one again...who was this voted in/approved by? my money gets taxed enough freakin times, the last thing i want to hear on the radio is an ad to broke people who dont work that are eligible for free cell phones

I see ads for them a lot. I haven't really researched the details, but the ads say if you are on Medicaid you may be eligible for a free cell phone with free minutes. I am on my phone, so I can't link to the sites that have information about this program. I have no idea if it is state or federally funded.

And whats up with poor people getting help paying rent. If im poor im just gonna live in a van down by the river if i cant afford rent.

The program began in 1984 (Reagan lolz) to subsidize landlines. The subsidy is worth $10/mo and the majority of the money still goes to landlines.

Its not their fault you bought a phone instead of getting the uber awesome $10/mo phone you coulda got through Regan's phones for poor ppl scheme.

Cell phones are a basic human right nowadays.

Busting a nut in Amsterdam is for Brits, so why not cell phones?

That is EXACTLY what should happen to you or anyone under the age of 55 who is abled bodied that can't afford rent. Before I spend one wooden nickel to subsidize someone's rent, or anything else.

If you have a brain and can walk and not elderly, you should either sink or swim.

Phil, if you really think people who can't afford cell phones should get them for free then that is so wrong on so many levels.

And i dunno why Regan thought it was a good idea to fund telephones for the poor, but i hear he was like the best president person ever so who am i to second guess him.

There is this amazing wings place on outside of Chicago that I go to a few times a year. There are always a couple ghetto superstars trying to hustle people and college students on the way in and out for spare change.

They are poor but it is obvious they get by. They are quite annoying in their approach, continually chirping, "like you can afford it", even after you pass them.

I ignore them on the way in, and on the way out I take a wing out of my take out bag and shovel in my face as I pass by them while they ask for more change.

Almost as satisfying as a BJ.
