No. I was familiar with what I'll call mainstream libertarian thought before I started posting on here. Anarcho-capitalism is, generally speaking, less convincing and appealing to me than that. I will say that I have read a lot more AC scholarship since reading some AC posts. In general, more modern scholarly AC stuff is much more readable, enjoyable and persuasive than the AC posts on this forum, which all-too-often are more invective and rhetoric than thought and logic. In particular I'd recommend Walter Block's stuff.

I won't name names but I'm pretty sure that a tiny proportion of the users make a majority of the post reports. They certainly make a ton of them if not a majority. A subset of those are people whose standards for reporting posts, if applied to their own posts, would almost certainly result in them being banned from 2+2.

The satisfaction of a job well done. It's business, not personal.

If you could bring in another forum's mod to co-mod with you who would it be?

About the Nobel Prize? It's an email I got and I have no reason to think it is not real. I gave the max to the Obama campaign and so I get a lot of communications from his political team asking for money or stuff.

lol, I'm not offended. I volunteered, Ryan modded me. I'm sure there was some discussion with Wookie and maybe iron about it. Do you want to know why I volunteered or why I was picked? Obv I don't know the latter although I could guess. I'll tell you the former if you want.

I really want to know about your karaoke skills. Which song(s) do you like to perform? Are you any good?
10-14-2009 , 12:23 PM
Any plans to temp lift the personal attack rules like Wookie did during the primary debates?

Would you agree that the drunk thread should be free from modding provided posts do not violate the 2+2 terms & conditions.

The person in a given time period whose posts are most reported will be the person most actively disputing the anti-government position. In general, the proportion of post reports that report actual rules violations is about the same across reportees.

"These are not the posters you are looking for."

This is substantially constrained by the fact that I don't think anyone would want to d it. Assuming that they *did* want to do it, then I'd pick:

Wookie - done it before, he is much harder on low-topic and absurd threads than I am

VR -- extremely sensible and grounded, cares about doing a good job

Hitch -- on UK time which helps with coverage, cares a lot too

Other people that would be good: Bobo, LFS, killa, kerowo. CMAR, gregorio.

No current plans. The problem with this sort of thing is that there are some people who will be *******s about it.

"Good" is relative. So far I have always been one of the top 2 in the room. That is not because I am good. That is because everyone else sucks really really bad.

I almost always do one or more of:

Smells Like Teen Spirit
Wonderful Tonight
Your Song
Keep Your Hands To Yourself (unfortunately hard to find in Korea )
Dust in the Wind

Songs I always want to do but never work out well so I've stopped trying:

A bunch of Guns and Roses songs.

I have to say when I first started going to asia and having to do it I didn't like it at all but now I think it is a lot of fun and does help the business relationships. It also shows you if the people you're dealing with are cool dudes or sticks-in-the-mud.

No need to be embarrassed about this. Anybody that disagrees is wrong.

There. That should settle that.

Frankly, I'm impressed that you have that kind of range.

Why did you take the education thread down? The purpose of forum moderators is to facilitate productive discussion by discouraging spam posts, derailing, ad hominem attacks, etc, right? Why close a discussion entirely?

Also, why hasn't the discussion here changed you into an ACist or libertarian? I'm not asking you to explain exhaustively, but a summary beyond "I don't this philosophy is convincing" would be appreciated.
