So Cruz abandons Trump hoping to emerge as frontrunner after Trump loses. Plays the base by saying he knew Trump could never win, plays the general electorate by appearing more moderate than he is. Not a bad strategy, imo, but we will see.

Pence would make a decent politician if he wasn't so thoroughly bat****. He's a capable speaker and that one is going to resonate with the base who've had the good fortune to not know him by now. The fact that he and Trump can't stand to be around each other is pretty great.

Haha Trump got what he deserved. Did he really think inviting Cruz to speak after all the things he said about him was a good idea?

Cruz is playing the long game, though. He expects that Trump will lose in a landslide and the next day after the election people will all realize how bad of a choice Trump was and he can say "See, I told you guys! Now vote for me in 2020!"
