well this really depends on what you consider a "terrorist attack", doesn't it?

What if I told you the people doing the terrorist attacks.......are the reformers.

Even under most definitions its pretty debatable. Unfortunately the definition that everyone thinks of when talking about this "most terrorists are muslim!" nonsense requires

1. Non state actors (i.e. the same number of deaths, of the same type of people, carried out by a state is excluded)

2. Excludes "crazy white people" (eg the recent church killing)

3. Is an attack on western people (poor people killing other poor people in Congo over political and/or religious issues is ever counted)

By the time you feed in the massive selection bias of all these 3, it's completely nonsensical to act like the conclusion that most "terrorists " are muslim means anything

That said, most religions are pretty ****ed up when it comes to their influence on violence, including islam.

Also, I ****ing hate this "well I'll be the first to say it" bull****.

1. It's not what we are all thinking but only holding back because of political correctness.

2. It's not brave of you. A large chunk of the press is saying the exact same thing or worse.

EDIT.

Someone goes on a killing spree: 24yo male. Shocker.

(post would have been better back in the day before all you other posters didn't age out of the shooter demographic)

A co-worker of mine who spoke with his son this morning (stationed near by this incident) was briefed about upcoming policy changes as a result. Who really knows the veracity or time frame of this change?

They were marines that were shot. It's not like they went into an air force recruiter. Nice that you have no problem ever insulting people that served.

A young male being the perpetrator of violence is always the betting favorite.

Remarkable restraint shown by Wookie in naming the thread. Was your first instinct to go with "lol dead soldiers"?

Any discussion of Islam not being an outlier religion that hasn't kept up with the times should basically begin and end with those ridiculous pew polls from a few years ago that show an absolutely absurd amount of Muslims in Muslim countries support things like cutting off hands when people are found guilty of stealing and other assorted medieval **** . Not particularly convenient for the "Islam is just like any other religion" crowd though so whatever. I really don't understand how people who consider themselves intellectually honest can look at that and hand wave it away but here we are.

Now that's seriously offensive and disrespectful.

Spoiler:
Never call a "marine" a "soldier."

You think it's supposed to be funny? That's odd.

I'm not even sure what your starting point needs to be to interpret it that way.

The military recruitment center was shot up. Nobody died there. I guess I am hyper literal if nobody else sees it.

They were the gate guards that protected every base I ever served on.

No not full of ****, I have more respect for someone that served that someone disparaging those that served.

So you're saying squids can't protect themselves?
