This is mostly an irrelevant tangent, but I recently spent several weeks in Brasil. It was amusing how many people there still hold up the US as an example of the place where everything works well. It was surprising to many Brasilians to hear me explain that US health outcomes are about the worst of any developed country, given the amount that we spend to get them.
Of course I get that it's all relative and such, but the BRICS countries will soon be our cohort in public health issues if Republicans get their way, so I guess we can take solace that some of them still envy our healthcare.
