But that can't be true, because they can't predict temperature to within 5 degrees right now, and when they predict rain, it's to within +/- 30% either way.

They have either:

-Bought a new super computer that's going to revolutionize their weather picking abilities

-Decided that their visitors are complete idiots

-Took drunk.
Another possibility is they will give their measurements to decimals, and it's too much of a pain to change the programming to distinguish between a forecast and a reading.

Even if the 95% CI is 10 degrees wide wouldn't it be better to know the exact center instead of a rounded center?

True forecast: 77.6 ------------> CI of 72.6 - 82.6

Rounded forecast: 78 -------------> CI of 73 - 83

Now I don't have to bring my hand-held spritzing fan bottle because I only need it if the temp is going above 82.8 more than 5% of the time.

I can pretty much guess tomorrow's high temp within a 10-degree range with 70% confidence and no data or training.

I don't recall, perhaps within a few months I did.

But honestly, I don't think my tale is that interesting. I did not lose any loved ones, only some acquaintances, and I was not in harm's way. My line of sight prevented me from seeing the impact, though I certainly heard the noise.

At this point, most of what I remember is how the sky literally became as dark as night temporarily, once the buildings came down. And as I walked from my office to a friend's apartment, debris was slowly coming down for what seemed like hours, even at quite a distance away from ground zero. I don't even remember how I eventually got home to the suburbs that night.

One thing I do recall is how my neighborhood had a distinct odor for weeks, if not months. Things felt kind of surreal then, but I suspect that's how much of the country felt too. I was just reminded about it a little more, being so close by on a daily basis.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acute_pancreatitis = me last week.

Went to the ER Wed night. They didn't figure out until thursday night... mostly (I think) because I also had a severe pneumonia like disease (which turned out not to be pneumonia but rather a fungal infection in my lungs.)

Long story short, pancreatitis = worst thing ever, Dilaudid = super awesome.

Pff, who cares about tomorrow. 10 day forecast is the challenge.

I have tentatively taken a position at the head of the Clark County (WA) CFL chapter. Will be lots of work but interesting. I'm sure many awesome TRs to follow.

This would be really easy in Texas for the last 2 months. High: 102, Low: 75. Rain: None. I probably would be within 3 degrees 95% of the time.
