Good question. I'd love to watch it and post wildly.

I thought the debate was Wed when Obama wanted to speak or something?

Taso,

Even you're smart enough to figure out what I'm saying. It's not a defense of Obama in any way shape or form. Why don't you actually try and read what's on screen and respond to that instead of whatever people are writing in the message board in your head?

There are two debates this week. Demint's, which is today, and NBC's, which is Wed. Demint's won't be as exciting because Perry just dropped out cuz wildfires and stuff.

I'm guessing it got locked because Wookie wants the discussion in the the republican nom thread?

or maybe the bachmann picture isn't kosher.
09-05-2011 , 02:24 PM
Didn't Romney only join the forum because he thought Perry was going to be there?
09-05-2011 , 02:25 PM
lol, yep

plus Romney already skipped the first SC primary debate, and there were some op-eds blasting him for 'disrespecting' SC voters by making it two in a row.

I don't like to actually watch those things, but I enjoy the 2p2 summaries. Hopefully that will be somewhere.

how is wondering about whether there is some secret truth that he now knows about the detainees not a defense of him changing his policy? that'd be a defense IMO, it'd make sense, like if his first day in office the head of the NSA was like "mr Obama, all the detainees have secret nuclear devices in their buttholes which if we tried to extract would detonate hidden nukes in all major cities, but as long as we hold them underground in Gitmo's anti-transmitter bunker they can't transmit the signal", and then obama was like "oh wow I understand, we must keep them there", that'd be a solid defense.

of course, that hasn't happened, but you so want to believe you voted for a pragmatist (you didn't, you voted for an ideologue who unfortunately believes in the wrong ideology, pretty much the worst kind of ideologue), that you try to manufacture some excuses.
09-05-2011 , 02:42 PM
If I can borrow the logic of a few posters on this forum:

Why are you for arming terrorists' *******s with nuclear detonators?
09-05-2011 , 02:43 PM
From what little I've read about the freedom forum thingie, it seems like the Constitutional Scholar fellow really thinks he's gonna nail RP or something, like RP will be the ball of string he playfully smacks about as the arbiter-kitty of truth and freedom, if I can drag that analogy out slightly longer than necessary.
09-05-2011 , 02:47 PM
lol, I forgot people were touting Obama as a constitutional scholar. that makes his presidency all the more hilarious.
09-05-2011 , 02:54 PM
Taso I'm not sure you could make less sense. It's like you started with the words ideologue and pragmatist, then crafted some kind of rambly nonsense to fit them in.

Pragmatism is value-neutral. It simply means changing your approach to fit the situation at hand. Regardless of anything you think about Obama not closing Gitmo, it's certainly the more pragmatic, and less ideological path.
09-05-2011 , 03:00 PM
Not a big Obama fan I think his stance on Gitmo is principled. It is negative EV politically to break a campaign promise. The only conclusion I can draw is that despite the fact that the existence of Gitmo is against his core beliefs the alternatives would lead to a significantly less safe America.
09-05-2011 , 03:02 PM
In an alternate universe one might call that being pragmatic.
09-05-2011 , 03:02 PM
WHOA hairpiece!
09-05-2011 , 03:04 PM
Ohh, they're doing Bachmann first!
09-05-2011 , 03:05 PM
And when I say doing... >.>
09-05-2011 , 03:06 PM
Ohhhh, sick FDR burn, Michelle
09-05-2011 , 03:14 PM
lol Bachmann

"Obama hates the Constitution, he won't defend DOMA because he doesn't think it's constitutional, THAT'S NOT HIS JOB"

"Oh by the way, I would put an instant moratorium on Obamacare because I think it's unconstitutional"
09-05-2011 , 03:14 PM
Not currently in the States, but am I safe in assuming that every single Republican is ignoring Labor Day's roots as a celebration of unionization?
09-05-2011 , 03:14 PM
Here come the Reagan quotes..

Yeah. Bachmann just spent a few minutes bashing unions and praising people have the 'right to work' when asked about right-to-work stateslaws.
