To be honest I think people are jumping to conclusions. I hate santorum, but this isn't particularly convincing.

Meh. If he's winging it then it's a lot more likely but I can't imagine writing that into a speech, but I don't know why, if he's reading it, he would stumble there.

He buys them for $430M and change in 2004 in a booming economy, runs the team into the ground worse than perhaps any sports owner even has, then sells them 6 years later for $2.15B in a nasty recession. Something is seriously ****ed up about that.

If there's hyper-inflation it's defitely in scarce stuff only ultra-rich people buy.

What a ****ing buffoon. Seriously, who are the neanderthal clowns who support this disgrace of a human for the highest office in the country? Just amazing in their stupidity.
I mean, Santorum is obviously an asshat, but we're not seriously suggesting that Santorum was going to start tossing around racial slurs in a prepared campaign speech and just caught himself in mid-word, right?
03-30-2012 , 10:45 AM
Wouldn't rule it out. Guy surrounds himself with really racist people 18 hours a day, daily.

I really, really.....really dislike Santorum, and I wanted this video to be true. I don't think this is the slip everyone is looking for.

Really Riverman?
03-30-2012 , 11:01 AM
It's called a Freudian slip.

That's exactly what I'm suggesting.

This man is a misogynistic, homophobic, bigoted *******. It surprises you that he's a racist too?
03-30-2012 , 11:43 AM
It wouldn't surprise me at all that Santorum is a racist. It would utterly astound me if he called Obama a ****** in a campaign speech.

So pet theory:

Huge correlation between attractiveness of woman and her devotion to animal rights. Highly attractive woman:highly interested in animal rights. I don't mean as part of an especially eco-centric political agenda. Singularly limited to concern for animals.

Agree/disagree?

If we get a lot of agreement with this, let's speculate why. I'm convinced it's a very real phenomenon but I'm not sure I understand why it's happening.

I'll go, hot and dumb are positively correlated. Dumb and animal rights are positively correlated. Ergo, hot and animal rights are positively correlated.

Maybe because animals don't take their good intentions the wrong way and hit on them?

But that should manifest itself in all kinds of political ways, but it seems hot ladies are solely focused on animals.

Also the Slate's "Question of the Year" in 2010 involved whether smart people are more likely to be ugly or good looking, and they concluded: good looking. So I'm questioning hot = dumb.

From the article:

Quote:
Could it be that good-looking people really are more intelligent?

Here the data were less clear, but several reviews of the literature have concluded that there is indeed a small, positive relationship between beauty and brains.
03-30-2012 , 12:55 PM
There's some kind of curve where really ugly people are really dumb, but really good-looking people are maybe above average but not super-smart. I know from working with a lot of computer programmers, most of us have large and/or weird-shaped heads that tend to preclude model good looks. The wide head seems to be really common.
03-30-2012 , 12:55 PM
Yeah, I generally mix up physical beauty with "looks skilled and willing."

I think the stronger correlation is between young women and animal rights.

I can't think of any girl I've ever known who was indifferent to animals, they've all loved them. Most people do. I think a lot of people are kinda indifferent when it comes to animal rights, most probably not liking it if they see an animal being treated poorly, but not being ridiculous about peta and all that jazz. I don't think there's a large enough animal rights movement to really say there's a correlation, and we must remember the fat chicks and disgusting "I look like I was amish at one point" hippy girls who are pro animal rights, complete with arm pit hair.

So, I disagree with your prognosis. edit - But I think Ike might be onto something.
