I can't believe Fox news is still using "Homicide Bomber." It's "Suicide Bomber." Always has been, always will be. I wonder what else they will come up with next. Oh, I know, "Ground Zero Mosque." Come on Fox, tell your viewers that they can take the plastic wrap and duct tape off their houses and step outside for a little while.

Suicide is when you kill yourself, homicide is when you kill others. Usually when someone kills someone else and then kills himself it is called a murder-suicide so it seems more appropriate to call it a murder suicide bomber, but that is a mouthful so homicide bomber is the next closest thing. Ultimately the connotation is roughly the same though.

Did there used to be suicide bombers who were not also homicide bombers? I don't even get the angle here, which worries me some. Or are they referring to some other thing were you try not to die while trying to kill other people? You know, like a good Christian war is fought.

Are bad suicide bombers who fail to kill people attempted homicide bombers? Are car bombers who dont stick around also homicide bombers? Is someone who commits suicide without trying to harm others using explosives a suicide bomber?

Not sure suicide bomber is more or less correct than homicide bomber - generally speaking they are all killers or at least trying to be killers - id generally agree going against the standard way of reporting seems pretty dumb.

Homicide bomber is essentially redundant. "Suicide" is the modifier denoting that this specific bomber is insane enough to also intentionally kill himself to achieve his goal of bombing (killing).

"Suicide bomber" is of course the correct term because it accurately describes the method used in the bombing. hence "car bomber", "mail bomber."

"Homicide bomber" does nothing to differentiate from other types of bombing EXCEPT by linguistic connection with the well-known term "suicide bomber." Ergo, it is a stupid, useless description (kind of like this thread's title).
