I think the correct play is to call your insurance company and ask them.

You'll get cleaning expenses and "market value" for the stuff, not replacement cost, unless your policy is pretty unusual.

Whether it is worth it depends on you. As for the $500, I don't know what you mean by "on the hook" but the deductible obviously applies and so you'll only get reimbursed by the insurance co. for losses over that amount. You could sue the apartment people for the $500 though, if that is worth it (probably not IMO).

Would read the policy first. Make sure you know what is a covered event. i.e water heater accidentally leaking and damaging stuff might be treated differently then a known 3rd party negligently causing damage.

small claims court, i suppose

well, if you go thru insurance for a damaged car, they don't pay until you've got it repaired and have a bill for them afaik, so you have to pay your deductible and then they cover the rest, is what i was thinking

dunno how this applies to house insurance, if at all

Not tons of valuable stuff, but depending on how it's valued, could be up to $2000 of stuff for replacement/cleaning. We have a $500 deductible. We were told it was our responsibility to contact our insurance company to replace this.

Now, we didn't use what was in there too often, but there was an eleven hundred dollar pair of ice skates, a hundred dollar cashmere scarf, an old laptop, etc.

Is it worth it to pursue with our insurance company? Will they sue our apartment people for messing up the installation? Are we really on the hook for $500 if we press this?

What's our play?

You probably have thought of this but take pictures.

yeah, giz has taken a load of them

also, i was looking at a quote from a different company i saved. we got a 1k deductible. Probably not worth it at this point. Nevermind.

Deductible isn't something you pay out... If the damages to your crap is $1001, then you get a dollar - they aren't going to make you buy new stuff with it.

Replacement cost is unusual? I pay like an extra dollar a month for that.

That seems cheap, good buy IMO.

Grooveshark just shut down. Don't know how many other people used it, but it's all I've used for several years now.

Oh well, time to try Spotify I guess.

I've also got a bit of a legal question. Today, I finally managed redeem one of those sandwich club cards from my local deli. Is the free hero considered taxable income?

If you get a 1099 maybe. This has been a bit of a debate with regards to frequent flier miles. The IRS does not pursue frequent flier miles non reporters so I think you will be OK.

Found a big bag of popsicles in the freezer that look kinda like these:

Pretty sure the green ones are antifreeze flavored.

no, loyalty rebates are not income, ffs. the only reason ff miles might be an issue is because the tickets are paid for by the employer, not the mileage recipient.

Citi sent out 1099-misc to customers that opened new account and received 50k miles and the IRS appears to be getting ready to tax frequent flier programs. http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_b...new-ways-.html
Maybe they will only go after employer paid trips. Not clear to me and the citi new account bonus is not employer related.
Edit:

The more I think about it you are probably right.

Cute 20-something girl texting me all day from Vegas, suggests I get something called snapchat. Takes me like 40 minutes but I eventually got it.

Sweet lord, GOAT app

Not including pics with a post like that should be a bannable offense.

Also, it's a dude who's going to blackmail you with the dick pics you just sent.
05-01-2015 , 12:17 AM
The pics get erased after 10 seconds.

Pretty sure there's no work around.

Right?
