Reminds me of a documentary I just saw on Netflix Night Will Fall. It's about a documentary made by Alfred Hitchcock among others about the concentration camps which wasn't finished. Anyway, there's a quote in there from Eisenhower similar to "why we fight". I think it was maybe "Our soldiers may not know what they are fighting for, but here they can see what they are fighting against." Something like that. Bringing Germans who lived near the camps to view what was going on there featured prominently.

I mean seriously. Let me ask you a question. I'm supposed to sympathize with a Trump voter based on the fact they wanted Obamacare repealed but not the ACA? Really? Where is this "personal responsibility" the right loves to espouse?
Based on the way Trump LOVES to constantly pass the buck, I'm starting to realize that the whole "personal responsibility" thing applies to everyone BUT the right-winger who is spouting it.

The problem is we tried that for the past year. Trump voters simply did not care. If they disagreed with it, it was fake news. And you really can't fight something like that.

I don't get the whole idea of liberal elitism. How is it worse than conservative elitism?

"We represent real America"
"You must say Merry Christmas"
"The people who live on the coasts are out of touch"

etc etc

Fake news was a term that was invented after the election though, but I see what you're saying.

Yes there is conservative elitism too. We should just try and invent new ways to make people realise. It is a big problem. Shouting racist doesn't work.

How do you kill an ideology? That's the question.

Elitism is not the way to go. It only makes the supporters angry. I think empathy and humanity is the way to go. I believe that love will heal everything.
How about personal responsibilityism for buying into it all?

It's great you have seen the light and applaud you for coming forward. However I am not throwing you any parades for getting there in first place.

I don't watch O'Reilly, but seems like he's pretty objectively a bad person. I think generally his politics are about greed, war, inhumanity, indifference to human suffering, etc., but there's also the personal stuff; the screaming like a maniac on set and the losing custody of his children because he dragged his wife down the stairs by her neck.

Who is surprised though? Was a Dem for a decent part of this century.

I'm pretty sure Trump has little to no direct input in the content of the books that are published in his name. I mean he'll veto stuff he doesn't like and tweak some stuff but the meat and potatoes of however many books that have been published were all done by other people and he just signed off on them.

The rank hypocrisy of the American political "conservative", and the total lack of humanity in ~100% of their "policy" positions (the only policies they have are roll backs of existing rights, regulations, and taxes) makes them worthy targets for scorn and condescension.

I'm not asking for a parade. I'm just saying I shouldn't be punished.

Yeah he has some personal flaws for sure. But he's not a Nazi. He just realised that Trump is a radical.

Well my friend, you are going to be punished. Sorry you realized this too late along with everyone else that supported Trump.

But don't be so hard on yourself. Trump is a master conman. This is what he does. He's the modern PT Barnum.

Elite for a liberal is being against bigotry. That's really all there is to it. Maybe you can throw in being against pollution.

What you're talking about isn't really conservative elitism in my book. I consider conservative elitism to be the Koch Bros, The US Chamber of Commerce, Halliburton, Mercer, Exxon, Goldman Sachs, Adelson, Murdoch, Friess, Singer, Thiel, Bechtel, Chevron....
03-23-2017 , 11:46 PM
I don't think Trump is like a leader Nazi. He's a dumb old bigot who has watched way too much Fox News and Alex Jones. He's an easy mark for a guy like Bannon who very openly wants to destroy the American government. He's also a natural authoritarian and narcissist. It won't be his idea to put all Muslims in the US in camps, but he'll like it when he hears it.

Thier elitism is not based on things that take skill, ability, or hard work. For example, It takes a massive amount of work to get a PhD at one of their hated universities.

It takes no work to be a Christian, in fact it takes active intellectual laziness.

I should be thrown into a wooden oven? Thrown into jail perhaps?

If I was American, I get that I would be punished by Trump, and that would suck. But I don't understand why you're so enthusiastic about punishing me.

Trump said his genes were better than others during the campaign a few times. He just likes money more.

That's fair and I agree, I'm just saying Jamelle Bouie isn't some random mouthbreather dropping hot breath takes.

Apologies but I thought it obvious that I was more trying to defend my boy JB in general. I was like WAT until I read the replies.

I can see a way where having "civilian" or layperson input is acceptable, but it would require a total restructuring. We couldn't just drop in a non-judge now.

I'm fairly certain he's into eugenics.
