Obama's "quit moping and get to work" speech is a joke right? He has been vacationing while the world burns and many of us have been actively engaged in opposing this stuff.
06-29-2018 , 05:27 PM

Now this would be an interesting bet. Odds he nominates a woman.

Also, good move. Goddamnit. Or it's bull****.

Most people just whine on the internet like this thread and he's telling them to get their friends to come out and vote and stop bitching on the net.

Given Trump is in debt for Billions of dollars to the very same bank I agree.

Trump wants to replace income taxes with tariffs, so it's even stupider.

He's in a weird spot where he's not supposed to actively engage in political **** anymore but he's also the Dems' most likable and charismatic figure.

(okay it's not but autos+auto parts would be #1)

Also Trump badly wants to withdraw from the World Trade Organization.

I'm sure we'll get record dow numbers especially with how much we go down in a single day.
There are reasons why we don’t have trade wars anymore. They are really stupid, never accomplish their stated goals and create all sorts of collateral damage.

Electing a doddering old fool who does not understand ANYTHING about trade. The worst part is all this nonsense will likely spin us into a heavy recession which will then overhang the next legitimate President.

There are strategic ways to use tariffs in foreign policy and trade management. What this administration is doing is none of that. These actions have proved out to be massive fail and the reason why we no longer do dumb stuff like this.

Trump keeps lying and saying U.S. Steel is expanding their operations, and U.S. Steel is apparently too scared to call him out on it

Quote:
“The head of U.S. Steel called me the other day, and he said, ‘We’re opening up six major facilities and expanding facilities that have never been expanded.’ They haven’t been opened in many, many years.”
— President Trump, roundtable with American workers, Duluth, Minn., June 20, 2018

“U.S. Steel just announced they’re expanding or building six new facilities.”
— Trump, remarks at the White House, June 26

“I’ve been hearing that from steel companies, and in particular from U.S. Steel, where I was with the president, as I said. And he — they’re just talking about opening plants now, and so many things have changed.”
— Trump, roundtable on tax reform, Cleveland, May 5

Here’s a puzzler: Why is the president of the United States announcing the opening of new factories that a major U.S. company has not announced?
Quote:
Meghan M. Cox, U.S. Steel’s spokeswoman, simply offered this response: “To answer your question, we post all of our major operational announcements to our website and report them on earnings calls. Our most recent one pertained to our Granite City ‘A’ blast furnace restart.”

Translation: The president is wrong. But apparently U.S. Steel is afraid to say that out loud.

Their softwood lumber tariffs on Canada have already raised the average price of a new home by $9,000.

That tariff instead of taxes thing was McKinley right? They really are literally every single policy is from the late 1890's. Who in the hell is this stupid to think that was the rosiest time ever. Oh wait it's the birch society, god help us all.

Trump doesn't care if it's not true as long as people believe him. We obv do not, but he's not trying to convince us.
06-29-2018 , 06:43 PM
It's better than that, Trump's attitude is essentially the Mercantilist system - that government's job is to impose costs and restrictions on any foreign trade in order to promote its own. The only success factor being your merchants selling the most and getting the most gold, or, in Trump's idiot world, having a positive trade balance. That started looking tired in the 17th century, but no more!

Man, all the people who were rolling their eyes at me about the possible rise in fascism here--and I am talking about my progressive friends and family--LOVED to talk about how a precursor in Germany was the terrible economy. As the right continues to apply a stranglehold on the power of the vote and the only idea the left has is to vote more, there is value in the economic collapse happening sooner rather than later. He can tell his base anything and they will believe it. It could very well be the deep state plan that is hidden in those missing emails! And MS-13, and the women trying to get jobs in chicken plants rather than face the drug gangs, and ISIS, and Justin Trudeau, and Mueller, and CNN...you name it. We had better lock them all up. To start.

This is where the frog boil matters. Would be a 24/7 scandal/story for anyone else.

Lol at Trump picking anything but a white male for SCOTUS.

And what has he been doing the last 18 months? He also wasted a ton of political capital playing nice with these clowns with a super majority. He is far from some pinnacle of Democratic excellence even if he has been one of the better Dems of the last 15-20 years.

Ted Cruz is SHOOK

"This is horrific. An avowed Nazi running for Congress. To the good people of Illinois, you have two reasonable choices: write in another candidate, or vote for the Democrat. This bigoted fool should receive ZERO votes."

GOP is probably glad they have an example of someone they can actually acknowledge as racist.

“These accusations of racism are so uncivilized. We all know what real racism looks like, and it’s not voting for fiscally responsible food stamp cuts”
06-29-2018 , 08:41 PM
Yeah the bolded in his statement is clearly the word “avowed”.

I said he was likable and charismatic, not effective. Obama tried the Clovis approach and got steamrolled because of it but hindsight's 20/20 and it's easy to criticize.

I've been reading much of the civility writing this week and it's changing my opinion. While I wish the we could all be more civil, I see that we can't fight a three-alarm fire with compliments.

It's past time for civility. Every weapon available must be utilized and the other side is no longer fellow citizens we just disagree with. They are the enemy and need to be treated as such.

I've been following some right wing sites just wondering what the hell is going on over there.

Seems like that socialist NY lady turns out she grew up in some rich community. Then they go and rant about bernie making a million while their god and savior is DONALD TRUMP. I'd say this is the most ridic thing they do without any single brain cell going "hey wait a second" but let's face it it's probably not.

Also most of the comments to those leftists are all violent for using words in a sentence or not being allowed to sit at the all you can eat buffet articles were in favor of killing us all. WAAF
