There's no doubt jokes have to be considered within context. If Springtime for Hitler was released as an actual Broadway play in real life, it'd be horribly offensive and not funny at all. When it's used as a scheme to rip people off in The Producers, it's funny.
Only problem with that response is that people can use it dishonestly as a cover for actual racism and bigotry.
