My uncle's certain the reason Democrats are mad about the census having a question about citizenship is because liberals want to hide how many illegals there already are in the US, along with the fact that they're already voting. Pure insanity.

How does he think the census would prove illegals are voting?
04-05-2018 , 08:38 PM
Pointless to ask. I’ve seen zero reason to assume DJT actually thinks about anything. If there’s anything resembling intelligence in him, it’s in some isolated part that’s hopelessly disconnected from anything he uses to communicate with. Monkey needs a hug

I gave up asking followup questions forever ago, there's no actual logic behind anything he says other than "brown people=bad".

because actually all the census enumerator jobs have been filled for the next census... by ICE officers. and we'll see who wins in 2020, america or the illegals!

Trump respects how honest and forthright Pruitt is about the graft.

omg Ben Sasse (R) disrespecting the president by reminding the public of Donald Trump's ongoing marital issues and the fact that his kids all hate him

Thank God one party is willing to courageously lead towards fiscal responsibility.

Do Republicans REALLY want a balanced budget amendment in the constitution?

I know they think that means the size of government will drastically shrink, but there is another way to make the bookkeeping work...

I don't think they do, but if I remember correctly they promised the more hardline economic conservatives that they'd push for a balanced budget in exchange for their votes on the tax bill. This is them perfunctorily doing their duty.

Don't really get the hate for Sasse about this in particular. He's been very consistent on Trump:

Quote:
In early 2016, while both parties' presidential primary election seasons were in progress, Sasse announced that he would not support Republican front-runner Donald Trump should Trump become the party's candidate; he was the first sitting senator to make such an announcement. Sasse questioned Trump's commitment to the U.S. Constitution, in particular accusing him of attacking the First Amendment; he stated that Trump had refused to condemn the Ku Klux Klan; and he suggested that Trump "thinks he's running for King".
Being a junior senator and being the first guy in your party to say you won't support your nominee is a pretty big deal. The Democratic Party could use more courage like that, frankly.

Obviously he's horrendous on policy, but I'm looking forward to getting back to hating people for policy and not because they are attempting to dismantle the institutions of the United States.

Trump called him a good guy, a very good guy. That usually means he's getting fired within 24 hours.

What does a balanced budget even look like?

Republicans going to be pissed when they find out EBT is only 2% of spending.

It looks like massive cuts to SS and Medicare because you know they aren't taking any money away from the military.

just in time for democrats to take all the blame

It's really as simple as this: the Republican vision of America is one in which taxes are not progressive and are extremely low, and exist only to fund the military... They don't believe it's the government's job to make sure all kids get a quality education or to keep the working class from dying in the streets or becoming destitute as soon as they are physically unable to work. They believe in self-sustenance to the extreme. If you can't take care of yourself or your family, **** you and your family. Nobody should have to pay a dime to help anyone else. This is bad for America's overall economy, too, it's worth pointing out, but would increase the advantages of the wealthy who can afford good food and good healthcare.

Obviously this isn't really news to anyone in this forum, but that is the extreme to which the GOP has gone. It's no longer a party that can even credibly pretend to be a party of small government and lower taxes. They're a party of no government and no taxes...

See: Kansas, Oklahoma or national Republican policy ideas and past legislation.

By the way, has anyone else thought about the overarching implications of this looming trade war? It could create a global recession, but the epicenters would be in the US and China. Further, it would destroy US credibility globally - other nations would be even more hesitant to enter into deals with the US or let the US lead on any global issue.

So the US takes two huge steps back, and China takes one big step back... Who does that benefit?

Russia.

What if he raises to 100 and China 4 bets all in and flushes all that debt we owe them. Thoughts?
