I braced momentarily for entry into the abyss thinking this might have signaled the singularity.

Apparently torture Lady can't go to Europe, South Korea, Israel and somewhere else-- something about she'd get arrested for war crimes.

New CIA director everybody.

Odd that truth-above-all-else Greenwald ignored these.

Fox News: Trump said California is 'begging us' to build a border wall, as he visits prototypes in the state
“California — they’re the best friend of the criminal,” Trump said Tuesday, saying the state is “very dangerous” for “policy and law enforcement folks.”

...

He added: “Sanctuary cities are protecting a horrible group of people in many cases. Criminals. What happened in Oakland was a disgrace to our nation.”

For ****sakes, even #theresistance MSNBC can't even come close to using a word like "torture", instead using "rough interrogation." What a joke.

Don't care a whit about Maggie H.

Respectfully disagree about DF. She has pluses to go along with huge minuses.

Support for torture lady is gross af. It's gross af when DF does it, but that doesn't necessarily make DF entirely gross af. She operated a black site torture facility and I hope the Germans get the chance to execute the arrest warrant they have on her.

I seem to be in the minority, but I'm not too upset about the new CIA director... Sure, she's awful with her past role in torture, and all that... but she's not a political appointee. Like, Haspel >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I really don't understand the tolerance for torture. It was an impossible public position for even the most deplorable people before GWB. Was it just that normalized? Did you kids just say "9/11 man, you gotta do what you gotta do?"

It should be on par with her being a convicted rapist, murderer, pedophile etc. 100% no questions asked disqualification. Saying it's not that bad is giving up on even aspiring to be a decent country.

Read one more bullet point down.

regan and bush1 literally ran a winning republican campaign in 1980 on LMAGA and even though every republican idolizes regan nobody seemed to remember that slogan 30 years later. they're the ones that came up with it, you think trump is going to be remembered for sloppily plagiarizing an existing campaign slogan? he turned a sentence someone else came up with into a sentence fragment, what a legacy.

Agree, it's not like she's Pompeo. I'm pretty sure she was "doing her job" on the torture stuff. Sure, she did not resign in protest, but I don't think we can expect someone who would be appointed by Trump.

It's like you didn't even watch 24.

Doing her job as a torturer? There's really nowhere to go with that other than Godwin.

Maybe that's it. No, I never saw a single episode.

Well in 24, torture was extremly effective. Jack could torture a guy and have the location of a bomb, minutes before it went off.

I'm not tolerating torture, I'm looking at it like this: almost everyone Trump would promote from within the CIA probably had some sort of past of supporting/approving of torture, if they weren't directly involved somewhere in the chain of command. This is the United States Central Intelligence Agency in 2018.

Almost everyone from outside the CIA Trump could pick was along the lines of Tom Cotton.

I'll take Door #1 every time in that scenario. What else should we do? Go to the CIA with pitchforks until Trump relents and we get Tom Cotton?

Like, sure, attack the appointment in the future if/when it's politically helpful to win elections so we can get control again and appoint better people... Until such a time, I think we got the lesser of two evils here...

Grade her on the Trump Administration scale and she's about as good as it gets.

The dotard arrives in LA soon. People are freaking out.

After attending a fundraiser in the Beverly Hills area he's staying downtown at the Intercontinental at the Wilshire Grand. Location-wise it's an odd choice, there are plenty of places to stay in Beverly Hills. Security-wise I can imagine a skyscraper might be easier to defend, but would it be THAT much easier than a 15 story hotel? I can't imagine Garcetti is important enough for them to want to thumb their nose at, which staying downtown kinda does. Otherwise, I think it would somehow be related to the building being owned by Korean Air.

Going to the CIA with pitchforks would be admirable.

This is exactly it, except not just kids.

We got punched in the mouth as a nation and immediately showed our true colors. Surveillance in the name of safety is fine if you're doing nothing wrong. Torture, hey if you can save even one life... We already locked up the Japanese once before when we got scared, so I guess none of this stuff should be very surprising; it's who we are.

We're not a decent country anymore, if we ever were.
