Tillerson fired one day after saying Russia did the poison.

Yeah it is amazing how tone deaf Trumo is to optics. It directly gives the appearance that Putin fired Tillerson.

Tillerson was obviously a horrible choice for the job and basically did nothing but still Trump hired him and now fired him.

WaPo is reporting that he was asked to resign Friday, which would suggest that his remarks on the poisoning were caused by his firing, not the other way around.

I'd love for a news outlet to have the balls to write "President Vladimir Putin fires Rex Tillerson". I'm sure the new guy will be fluent in Russian.

Or the UAE
Maybe Qatar will rethink talking to Mueller now.

Has there been any rumblings of him being fired or was this out of left field?

well oiled machine

Trump also had words of praise for Tillerson: “Finally, I want to thank Rex Tillerson for his service. A great deal has been accomplished over the last fourteen months, and I wish him and his family well.”
Not even a kernel of truth to that. And it is nice they are saying Trump fired him on Friday and he is making official statements on Monday.

There have been tensions between Tillerson and Trump. Rarely are they on the same page. I think the timing is a bigger surprise.

Not sure I buy it. Tillerson has said literally nothing about anything except once about North Korea and he chooses to make a comment like that three days after being fired? Tillerson doesn’t strike me as that kind of guy and I certainly think the Whitehouse would leak the story like that to get away from any Russia talk.

Agree it's all a little murky. He was apparently pulled off of a foreign tour as well, so there was clearly some urgency to getting him out.

Blame the Ruskies for a nerve gas attack on Britain soil, get sacked less than 24 hours later.

Could it be a diversion? Maybe his plan was to remove Pompeo from the CIA and get somebody more in line with him on the top.

Hard to even comprehend how dysfunctional the US Executive is at the moment.

I'm legitimately starting to think they've got something much worse than pee pee tapes.

At this point, what could possibly come out that deplorables, or more importantly GOP congressional slappies, would find actionable? It must be REALLY bad.
03-13-2018 , 09:07 AM
Also, Pompeo is a full bore deplorable.

Those optics won't change a single person who voted for him from doing it again.

Remember that report if one of the group of munchkin/mattis/tillerson got got they'd all leave? We'll find out if that was fake news shortly.
03-13-2018 , 09:09 AM
It's just a slow motion, 24/7/365 train wreck.
03-13-2018 , 09:10 AM
Tillerson was in Africa trying to get them to stop taking Chinese loans or something. Hard to imagine what happened there was the last straw, I would be a little surprised if Trump even knew it was going on.
