This is about the 20th time I've thought we'd hit the tipping point, but nothing has ever come of it. His poll numbers barely move and his supporters never turn on him.

A week from now nobody will be talking about this and it'll be mostly forgotten.

I've been fooled into thinking this too many times in the past. I've stopped falling for it.

He'll offer some half-assed apology/correction of what he meant tomorrow, and people will have forgotten about this within 7 days.

Look, it's very unlikely there's ever going to be a clear tipping point with Trump. But his poll numbers are steadily worsening and he's slowly losing his supporters.

We're barely 6 months in and we still have a long way to go - but clearly Trump isn't going to turn into a super president and the Republican Party isn't going to suddenly figure out how to govern effectively so it's likely this slide in support continues.

Just read some FB comment streams. Did you know the White Supremacists had a permit! That is an important fact!

No, I'm not kidding

I see a lot of outrage on my social media feeds and mostly silence from all the Trumpkins. My big fear is that things are going to get a lot worse than this before they get better. Trump is more likely to double down than attempt to retract all this. As things spiral out of control the odds of Trump doing somrthing terrible to distrsct from this increase. With more white supremacist gatherings schedule for this weekend we are almost guaranteed more tragedy.

The end result is likely to be catastrophic as this has ripped the veil off of us all. If you aren't speaking out, protesting and standing up to this atrocity then you are part of the problem in my book. Unfortunately that is a lot of people I know including close friends and family. It is hard to watch people you once respected and realize that they care more about pool parties and their most recent gadget than the actual problems our country are facing or in the worst cases actively are supporting this president. The level of divisiveness is not one I can ever remember and I don't think the resolution to this will be anything other than horrific.

Bottom line is as someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s it is staggering to see the amount of racist whites in this country. I think growing up we were kind of taught that the civil rights movement solved a lot of problems and racism was over which was clearly wrong. These people didn't die with Jim Crow they just stopped saying it in public. They also obviously have been passing it down generationally.

I always was aware of it to an extent but the scope of it is staggering when it is actually (and really this is the tip of the iceberg probably) revealed in public. Trump getting elected is a scary reflection of how many of these people exist in our society and it scares me that there is such little hope of change for such a big part of our population.
