Hmm
republicans in MT this year fought against switching to a mail-in ballot, which would save the state 750$k every election, because they found evidence that mail-in ballots tend to have a slightly higher democrat turnout

There was really no reason to put him in charge of anything more complicated than a local animal shelter but for his ties to Ukraine and Russia, and the speculation was that he was specifically hired because of those connections.

Also he appears not to be paying any attention to his Wiki entry

Manafort often lobbied on behalf of controversial foreign leaders such as Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, dictators Ferdinand Marcos and Mobutu Sese Seko, and guerrilla leader Jonas Savimbi.[1][2][3] Under US law, lobbying for foreign agents requires registration with the Justice Department, however Manafort has not done so contrary to some common belief.[4][5] Manafort is reportedly under active criminal and counterintelligence investigation by multiple federal agencies for issues related to the Trump campaign as well as financial transactions.

If you haven't seen the Roger Stone doc on Netflix you should. Manafort features somewhat prominently.

Trump reminds me of Rob Ford, the crackhead mayor from Toronto. He has no idea how to socialize with people, he's just ****ing miserable.
Screw you, as someone from Toronto who thought Ford is an idiot I believe his name belongs nowhere Trump's. He was an extraordinarily hard worker who dedicated his life to the public. He thought being a public servant was about hard work and little reward and he was immune to any sort of corruption. The US should be so lucky to have that idiot as their current president

The New Tsar: The Rise and Reign of Vladimir Putin
by Steven Lee Myers

Steven Lee Myers has worked at The New York Times since 1989. He has focused most of his career on international affairs, covering the Pentagon, the State Department and the White House during three presidential administrations. He first traveled to Russia in 1998 and, beginning in 2002, has spent more than seven years based in Moscow. He has witnessed and written about many of the most significant events that have marked the rise of Vladimir Putin: from the war in Chechnya and the Orange Revolution in Ukraine to the Winter Olympics in Sochi and the annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Someone found Carter Page attending one of speeches Stone gave in that documentary.

Whose advertisers are they going to threaten to boycott, and why? Advertisers flee from bad publicity, and the targets Trumpkins would probably like to hit don't usually generate any. Like what's the case for boycotting a company that buys spots on Anderson Cooper's show? He doesn't give Jeff Lord and Kellyanne enough air time?

At this moment, for example, in 1984 (if it was 1984), Oceania was at war with Eurasia and in alliance with Eastasia. In no public or private utterance was it ever admitted that the three powers had at any time been grouped along different lines. Actually, as Winston well knew, it was only four years since Oceania had been at war with Eastasia and in alliance with Eurasia. But that was merely a piece of furtive knowledge, which he happened to possess because his memory was not satisfactorily under control. Officially the change of partners had never happened. Oceania was at war with Eurasia: therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia.

Yeah, that was an astoundingly bad take. The thing Ford was BEST at was interacting with people! You were mad about garbage pickup? You could call him and he would pick up and have a conversation with you! He had bad vices, some bad policy but he legitimately tried and cared about his constituents.

The "take a dump on your desk" comment comes to mind. It doesn't have to be a valid reason. The companies only have to be convinced that they are going to lose a lot of money.
Maybe they go after comedians for crude jokes "disrespectful of the office of the president". Colbert's cock holster joke could have been used as grounds for a boycott campaign. He is probably immune because he is too popular What about the Daily Show or Samantha Bee though? Can a basic cable show afford to lose several advertisers?
The right get riled up over "happy holidays". If they channel all their anger into boycott campaigns they might be able to do some damage.

You wanna know the big difference?

Liberals have convictions. If we love Chick Fil A but hate their politics and decide to boycott, we will boycott. Are republicans never going to buy a Ford again because they advertise on Samantha Bee? **** no, then they'd have to buy a Chevy, and ain't no way they are doing that.

You have to be willing to sacrifice for a boycott to work. The bottom line for nearly all republicans is me me me, which is antithetical to sacrifice.

Your happy holidays example is perfect. How much money did Starbucks lose when they took Christmas greetings off their cups and made them red, even in the face of Right Wing uproar about a war on Christmas? Not a ****ing cent.

Having watched Trump's embarrassing performance today, I think it's high time NATO seriously considered expelling the US. It's unfortunate that the majority of the country is clearly appalled at their president's behaviour, but he's deliberately undermining the alliance at every available opportunity and his administration is arguably the second greatest current threat to world peace behind ISIS. The civilised world ought to stand together and shun the US until this toxic POS is removed from office.

I hadn't been keeping up apparently, I remember reading relatively recently about Quist asking for support and the DNC just kinda going "...nahhhh".

If they do that it means the US saves a ton of money and Putin can run wild. That's a Trumpkin's wet dream.

I've been watching that video with Trump pushing the guy out of the way. I'm Hard of Hearing and pretty good with reading lips. Trump mumbles a lot so it was hard to see what he's saying to that woman. But I'm 99% sure he said to her "Shut up and turn back." He definitely says "Shut up and..." I'm just not sure about the last part because Daddy can't speak clearly.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? What if...What if Paterno really didn't know his assistant coach was a pedophile monster? What if it came out in court that he did in fact warn the proper authorities of what he did know and was threatened?

You seem to like to take my points and stretch them beyond anything I ever intended them to be. My only point was that I don't like trial by media. I'd bet my life savings that Cosby is guilty as ****, and if so, he's got what's coming to him whatever that may be. But I still say let him have his day in court before ripping his legacy to shreds.
