Yes I think legally the process for charging the president with a crime is the same as anyone else but the reality of it is that it would be more of a political decision, rather than a legal decision.

More specifically, if a President was indicted by the DOJ, he would simply fire the USA and appoint one to drop the charges. Any State charges would probably be dismissed on Supremacy grounds/Secret Service laughing at the cops who tried to arrest him.

Pretty sure he could technically be charged and tried in federal court, but it would never happen.

Supreme court has ruled that an active POTUS is immune in state and local courts for supremacy clause reasons.

The potential for all this stuff was always there. The executive branch has WAY too much power.

We can probably remove DOJ from the above questions since they seem to be compromised as hell now too.

Which leaves only the FBI. Clearly they need to start targeting GOPers like Nunes and rolling them up until they surrender to Trump. Unless somehow the president is blackmailing them too with his "tapes" that he apparently uses.
