I don't know, but it's a bad development.

Hopefully, some of us are going to have the patience to keep reviewing this thread in order to evaluate the predictions, which is harder to do with the jokey predictions.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that some of the joke predictions are serious.

A McCain supporter will get off script and forget to use the code words.. "elitist" and "arrogant" and publicly refer to barack obama as an "uppity n*g*er."

Nude photos of Sarah Palin holding a moosehead will surface along with graphic details of her secret swinging wife swapping lifestyle.

DVault can feel free to c/p that.

Within the first 5 minutes of the debate, a joke about McCain's threat to not show up will be made by the moderator, McCain, or Obama.

Bonus prediction
The joke will be told by Obama, and will be a variant of the following:
"I'm glad Senator McCain was able to make it."
09-27-2008 , 01:07 AM
mccain dies in office and palin appoints dick cheney as (vice)president!

As much as I like McCain, I wouldn't mind Obama simply for the fact that I think he will be a competent leader. I think McCain would do better, but I don't see how Republicans can win this somehow. People want new leadership and Obama is that leadership.

Also, I really think Obama's ground game is going to come through for him.

So barring a major fiasco or the revelation that Obama really is a Muslim, this is what I think would happen.

My counter-prediction: Obama does not win NC without winning Ohio.

Yeah, 13th's map is pretty bold. IN, FL, and OH all look like more likely pickups than NC.

I think NC is going to go for Obama just like it did in the primary. Everyone thinks it will be competitive and then bam! Obama.

The reason Obama will take NC and not win IN, FL, or OH is because McCain will have spent resources protecting OH and FL but not NC. Even while playing no defense, Indiana is too Red to be able to take.

I disagree. Ohio is such a bad state for Obama that I can entirely see a +NC -OH outcome. IN is not, because I think there's a good chance it's not getting polled properly, and FL is tightening up over time, but OH is just terrible for him in every way. It's the very last state I see him winning.

Weird prediction: Palin does better than 95% of non-Republicans expect in the debate.

How do we know if you are right(with regards to the weird prediction)?

The bar is so very low that I can't see how this wouldn't be true.

On the other hand, before each of her network interviews, I expected Palin to do ok because I couldn't believe she wouldn't pass the already-low bar. Yet, we see how those interviews turned out.

Still, I have to predict that she will do alright in the debate, and reassure a lot of her conservative supporters.

I predict an SNL skit will make her look bad regardless, however the impact of the skit will depend on whether or not it is true. I think it will be.

I think SNL desperately needs her to do better. Right now she almost defies parody.

I don't know whether I posted the prediction here or not, but I admit to being wrong about the following:

I expected that McCain would gain 1-2 points after the debate, and, if anything, it looks like the opposite happened.
09-29-2008 , 12:47 PM
I predict that (i) Palin is widely reported to have "won" the debate by vastly exceeding expectations; and (ii) Obama's lead one week from today in the Gallup tracker is back down to four points or less.
