I expect this will be published in a similar way than the Snowden leaks, so it stays in the headlines for many months. If that is the case, it would make sense to publish the highest profile US/EU cases towards the end. We'll see, I certainly wouldn't read too much into the absence of such cases in the initial reporting.

It doesnt look like there will be huge US scandals. Le Monde is in the consortium and has published an article explaining why there are relatively few Americans in the files (basically, going through Panamanians lawyers is not the best option for Americans).

Also, there are several examples of high profile public figures being careful enough not to deal directly with the firm. They were caught only because journalists already had strong suspicions and knew exactly the middlemen to look for in the files. It limits the possibilities of revelations.

I could imagine a bomb being dropped just before November electons about one or both candidates.

Obama calls for international tax reform amid Panama Papers revelations

http://www.theguardian.com/news/2016...-investigation

“There is no doubt that the problem of global tax avoidance generally is a huge problem,” he told reporters at the White House on Tuesday. “The problem is that a lot of this stuff is legal, not illegal.”

The US president said the leak from Panama illustrated the scale of tax avoidance involving Fortune 500 companies and running into trillions of dollars worldwide.

“We shouldn’t make it legal to engage in transactions just to avoid taxes,” he added, praising instead “the basic principle of making sure everyone pays their fair share”.
The only problem is Bernie and Obama will never pay their fair share because they don't work to begin with. It is time to end the IRS, then you don't need any of these tax havens, no income tax like in Wyoming or Texas. Then there is no one for Bernie to shape-goat except his lazy self.

Bernie and Obama can prove they are workers by cleaning toilets for 40 hours after government play time has ended.

A private non-profit school endowment fund is a bigger, safer, and better tax haven than Panama will ever be.

Podesta Group lobbying on behalf of Serbank

http://observer.com/2016/04/panama-p...in-connection/
Quote:
As reported at the end of March, the Podesta Group registered with the U.S. Government as a lobbyist for Sberbank, as required by law, naming three*Podesta Group staffers: Tony Podesta plus*Stephen Rademaker and David Adams, the last two former assistant secretaries of state. It should be noted that Tony Podesta is a big-money bundler for the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign while his brother John is the chairman of that campaign, the chief architect of her plans to take the White House this November.
...
Although Sberbank has its origins in the nineteenth century, it was functionally reborn after the Soviet collapse, and it the 1990s it grew to be the dominant bank in the country, today controlling nearly 30*percent of Russia’s aggregate banking assets and employing a quarter-million people. The majority stockholder in Sberbank is Russia’s Central Bank. In other words, Sberbank is functionally an arm of the Kremlin, although it’s ostensibly a private institution.
...
Ukraine has pointed a finger at Sberbank as an instrument of Russia’s aggression against their country. In 2014, Ukraine’s Security Service charged Sberbank with “financing terrorism,” noting that its branches were distributing millions of dollars in illegal aid to Russian-backed separatists fighting in eastern Ukraine. Kyiv’s conclusion, that Sberbank is a witting supporter of Russian aggression against Ukraine, is broadly supported by Western intelligence. “Sberbank is the Kremlin, they don’t do anything major without Putin’s go-ahead, and they don’t tell him ‘no’ either,” explained a retired senior U.S. intelligence official with extensive experience in Eastern Europe.
