A PhD is a little different imo, as it suggests (afaik) some original contribution to the field your working in, which, imo, MAY suggest an ability to think differently than those who came before you. It may not, also.
Had you graduated from (idk, whatever the best Physics undergrad school is) with just a bachelor's degree in physics, yes, you'd probably have just spent more time memorizing equations and the like than most other people.
But ya, writing a doctoral thesis is pretty much 100% different from memorizing what Justice Blackwell said. I didn't know Obama was a PhD, though. What is Obama's PhD in?
