Because I said so.

Nielsio has racked up a dozen tempbans, warnings and *s in the last 6 months and this thread is an excellent example why. Goodbye Nielsio.
Good work sir!

Boo. I disagree with most of what he posts, but honestly, he gets skewered here merely because his opinions are so minority. There are plenty here who ignore when their points are disproved by things called "facts" but are free to continue posting because their views are more mainstream.

Actually, in the 2+2 Politics forum, his political views are considered to be fairly mainstream.

What people have objected to is him repeatedly posting "facts" that he knows to be false in order to advance his agenda. Broken Glass Can was banned for much the same reason.

And this probably belongs in ATF.

No I don't want to take to ATF.

1) If he's suspended, it's not a big deal to me
2) A politics modding thread in ATF only baits the trolls

Poly issues almost have to stay "in house" because the words "Politics forum" tend to irritate the ATF boys regardless of the actual content.

That said, while I'm tempted to agree with Kaj here, the fact is Niels had passed the "troll" line long ago. He was no longer posting anything useful, just posting either propaganda or trolling others posts. Plenty of good AC posters, no need to keep an obvious troll around.

This calculator assumes a rate of 44 cents per mile. The rate currently is about 12.5 cents per mile. I live in Austin, there is enough uproar over just the 12.5 cents per mile tolls. There is huge uproar if tollroads are used for anything other than new roads or new lanes (with existing lanes preserved). This is currently what is happening. I have the option of taking the old roads (and having a 30-45 minute commute), or taking the toll roads (and having a 15 minute commute and cost $2.72 a day). Is it voluntary? Absolutely. Now, much of the land was grabbed through eminent domain, so I can't say its all completely just and voluntary, but its not the nightmare that the Toll Party claims it is. They need to create hysteria to get elected. It's all in the proposal states and is far from a done deal.

I'll be enjoying taking my first trip on the brand new opened 130 toll road on Sunday to the airport, which should shave off a considerable amount of time on my trip (at the cost of $2.70).

wow neilso got banned?

Not surprising, he got banned from freedomainradio.com a long time ago and those guys are hardcore ACists over there. I dont think anyone is going to miss him, if anything this is good for AC now we wont have Neilso making us look batshit crazy

I was curious as to what got him banned on that forum, so I signed up to read his posts.

Turns out he got banned for repeatedly making conspiracy posts, and then acting like an idiot when people called his sources into question.

What was especially funny was when someone on that board pointed out that Nielsio has been doing the same things on 2+2 and getting called on it over here.

uh, look, uh, the point is that the plan for the future say, 5 years, is to convert existing roads to toll roads and jack up the price. so I'm not talking about current conditions.

And if that plan were to go into effect (it is one plan of many right now), there would be a revolt.
