From my cold, dead. hands! Except in Detroit and Chicago From my cold, dead. hands! Except in Detroit and Chicago

We're never banning all the guns or repealing Amendment 2.
We can never stop a crazy from a taking a pistol or shotgun into a mall, movie theatre or school. Because those will never be banned, even if the semi-autos are.

I wouldn't mind increasing the legal age of gun purchase to age 25 though.

Thoughts on that? Seems like lots of these crazies are age 18-25. And while I'm aware that this guy in particular stole his guns from his mother I do believe Cho at VTech bought his.

Question I've raised before but I think is relevant given the fact that this was again some young mentally ill kid.

A reasonable objection raised to gun control is "why do you expect criminals to follow the law." I think this would be a perfectly reasonable objection if highly organized gangs or international crime syndicates were the ones doing the mass killing. But if we had gun control laws in place for several decades that actually made it very illegal to buy/sell these sorts of guns (handguns lets say), do you really think a kid like this is really going to have the criminal connections, money and social intelligence needed to make the blackmarket purchase? For example, I would never expect one of these kids to be able to get their hands on anthrax or something of that nature.

Twenty small children were just gunned down bro. I'm not saying we need to make the entire earth completely safe. I'm saying lets make it a priority to secure our children.

Doing nothing is ******ed.

Putting handguns in every teachers hand is ******ed.

Banning all guns is ******ed.

I made a handy list of idiotic pro-gun arguments. Now whenever someone wants to make one of these arguments ITT they just refer to it by letter. Makes things cleaner.

A. Frontiersman 200 years ago said I could have a gun
B. More guns = less crime
C. Perfect is the enemy of the good. (can't eliminate guns/can't eliminate crime so don't bother)
D. People who disagree with me do so because they have an irrational fear of guns.
E. People only want to ban guns for political reasons
F. I should get to own anything I want
G. Slippery slope. First they come for guns, soon they'll just be <insert evil govt. action>
H. With guns illegal only the bad guys will own guns.

Nah, why bother writing something for someone who is too lazy to read. But I will give a cliffs for anyone who isn't so damn lazy...

Industrial campuses have the same security issues as school campuses. If it made sense to arm all employees at a school, it would also make sense to arm all employees at a factory. Unlike public schools, management can dictate any weapons policy they wish. So... how come most businesses don't arm all their employees?

the only person who is too lazy to read it is simultaneously the only person who thinks arming teachers is a good idea

I know you guys are more familiar with arguments, so anyone want to comment?

Guns --> more homicide. Thoughts?

Banning handguns would go further. Thug guns don't stay on the street indefinitely, they are eventually confiscated. I think gun crime would start dropping within a few years of banning pistols. Eventually the mystique of pistols would decline. Thugs would go back to flashing switchblades for their mayhem prestige, as opposed to now where you're a runt if you don't pack a Glock.

I'm for an outright ban on handguns, detachable magazines, and put a capacity limit of say six on long guns. I personally would have to give up a number of toys.

So what do you think isn't ******ed? If most want to keep their guns and gun rights, but don't want the large number of murders that go along with them, maybe treating most public places as a security zone is the next step. Scholars would probably think it a sad state of affairs, but others would think its the price to pay for freedom.

These things only happen at public schools. Ban public schools IMO.

Assault Rifles and Extended Magazines two things I just don't see any justification for...
