Thanks for answering. So then I'd assume you are only having issues with a small # of people. I've asked this question to others and have received answers ranging from all gun owners to this.

Anyone who seriously advances any of the following arguments:

Why have laws because they can't be perfectly enforced
Guns make us safer
The only way to stop a good guy with a gun is a bad guy with a gun
People die of things other than guns (i.e. knives, drunk driving)
Mental illness exists
I need my guns to protect me from the government

lol so if you think mental illness exists.... you're a gun nut. goofball lulz

A great debate on the subject. If you're genuinely interested in a principled discussion, give it a listen:

seriously, not one person is interested enough in this subject for a more sincere debate?

He wrote it that way, so that's that. It instantly made me think of the fact that people with an irrational fear of mental illness exist.

Small percentage of overall people in this country, or overall gun owners? Yes. Small absolute # of people? No. There are literally millions of people who think the above.

Way to ignore the other 9 sentences offered between the two of us.

Oh I'm sorry is this supposed to be a serious conversation? Because it isn't.

This. And anyone who thinks the NRA is a net positive to society.

lol the irony. They're talking about when it's ok to call someone a gun nut.... not the actual serious debate. GTFOOH with that nonsense.

Meanwhile in 'serious' talk... another year of gun rights advances and another year of falling crime.

Actual answer:

People are interested, but I don't think any one here is capable of a sincere debate.

In my experience, Americans who own guns tend to be very paranoid and say things like "you will never know when you will need it" and "if you have a problem, call me and i will get my gun". They seem to believe that their gun is a very important tool that will be necessary at some point.

They pride the country for the freedom for allowing them the guns yet fail to recognize the lack of free thought which told them that they need it in the first place. They see themselves as a wolf when they are actually a sheep.

Lol, holy correlation vs causation batman.

Put these 4 statements into two pairs that work best.

- crime is falling in all developed western countries.
- crime is falling in the US.
- the US has minimal controls on guns /aka gun "rights"
- the US is a massive outlier on both gun murders and overall murders...

We've been over this. Crime has been plummeting for 20+ years now, nationwide, for many reasons that have nothing to do with private gun ownership.

I'm taking it seriously. Others are, as well. You have nothing to add other than your own lunatic-fringe rambling, as usual, so now you're claiming it's silly.

I think the negative stigma surrounding hardcore 2A supporters, and why it exists, are very relevant.

You sound like the Fox News people who hate Obama and say he's bad for the economy despite a higher stock market, lower gas prices and lower unemployment.

Crime has been plummeting for 20+ years now? Wow... so has private gun ownership... for the past 20+ years.
