For an AR-15, the part that is legally considered the 'firearm' is called the lower receiver, and it does not contain the pressure of a round. That occurs in the upper receiver/barrel, and that is not legally considered a firearm. The lower attaches to the upper with 2 pins. The lower does still need some strength as it must withstand the forces of recoil.
You can have buy an upper online and have it mailed to your house (like I did
), but you cannot have a lower mailed to
you unless you have a federal firearms license.
