While I kind of agree with you, it's why anyone who bets online (and especially someone who has lost significant online bets like Wil), should clarify everything super carefully and get it in writing exactly what you are betting on in a way that leaves no grey area. Wil does not do this because he is not a smart person.
My read on this was it's just an offer to make a moron look like a moron, then go off the deep end again and say more things a moron would. jalfrezi succeeded in this. It's very similar to the dumb Ann Coulter thing. She never intended on going to Berkeley, just stirring the pot. People took the bait. So did Wil.
