Just 55,000 Signatures Now Needed For Nevada Ballot Initiatives Just 55,000 Signatures Now Needed For Nevada Ballot Initiatives

By law, the number of signatures needed to place an initiative measure on the Nevada ballot depends on the number of people who voted in the last general election. Prior to the November 2014 elections, initative proponents needed to gather over 100,000 signatures. Since so few people voted in this year's November election, you now only need 55,000.

Anyone here care to suggest a new law or state Constitutional amendment? If your idea is any good, maybe you can enlist enough signers and signature-gatherers right here on 2p2.

In California we have a similar system. People put on the ballot like issue bonds to build water projects. The problem is they already should be installing water projects. Thus, people says yes since they don't have to pay for it. Furthermore the ballot measures are carefully screened. You won't find any like ending the sales tax.

The real scary one is prop 47. Where you can steal $999 and it counts as a misdemeanor. And since there is jail overcrowding they just let hard criminals go and they won't use private prisons they would rather just see the murder and aggravated assault rates rise. Liberals think criminals are being abused by government and the police.
