Lol, still waking up. Wanted to get it on paper before I lost the fear. If I were to put stock in dream analysis I think it meant I should stay the **** away from Florida.

This seems like some populist nonsense. The dems lost because we (meaning progressives or whatever subsection of democrats are good) we were let down by the incompetent, elite!. If only they would listen to us (people so incompetent we can't even rise to the level of incompetent dem elite) we would have won!!!

But that's basically the ticket, at least in terms of things we can do something about.

Governorships: 33:16
State legislatures: 32:14:4
Congress: 240:194
Senate: 52:46:2

And the Reps have the Presidency and are about to have their way with the SC. If you wouldn't call the Dems' performance breathtakingly incompetent, what would you call it? SMOLDIC is over. SMOLDIC is not at that part of the movie where the hero rallies, it's at that part where the plucky-but-inept sidekick just got merked.

An electoral strategy based on nonvoters may be less successful than you expect.

Despite population growth Clinton got fewer votes than Obama in 2008 or in 2012(that chart was made while counting was ongoing, the real #s are higher, but she didn't catch him)

I guess this whole narrative is based on the "fact" that policies to the left of mainstream democrats are actually super popular and the Dems would crush it if they all talked like Bernie Sanders, grew a spine etc. But if thats true the really, really incompetent group is far left. They can't get even get their own party to adopt their super awesome ideas that everybody actually wants!! Basically Browns practice squad players talking about how much the starters suck. Sure the starters do kinda suck.....but they suck worse.

Your point is pretty clearly that Hillary losing implies Bernie would have lost. Voters who aren't registered for a party are a very large part of the electorate and there's no question who wins that group and they mostly didn't show up in the primaries. So, It comes down to a lot of Hillary supporters staying home or voting for Trump, so you may well be right.

Pre-election maybe it didn't seem that crazy to hope there was some part of the GOP that would actually vote HRC instead of Orange Clown, but in hindsight we know that was a foolish hope.

Uhhhh..... no. Don't see how even you could get that as my point. I'm just saying that if Hillarys lose is due largely to gross incompetence on the part of the democratic establishment, Bernies primary loss is due to even more gross incompetence on progressives or whatever they call themselves.
07-15-2017 , 02:35 PM
DemE thinks that a voter who doesn't register with either party can't pick a side because they think Dems are too far left and Reps are too far right, when in fact they just hate both parties.

ETA: Missed your second post. But to address that, HRC got about the same raw number of votes as Obama 12, and the overall turnout was higher in 2016, about the same as 08.

Well then you're even more clearly wrong. There's nothing contradictory about HRC winning the primary for any number of reasons including more name recognition or even theoretically having policies that democratic party members like more and her having lost the general because of greater incompetence.

In a general election, it's not just Democratic Party insiders voting.

Right. And there's nothing contradictory about blaming terrible refs when your team loses and also claim that other fan bases blame the refs when they lose to avoid having to deal with the the fact that their team kind sucks.
