Cruz says he leaving to get a fat job on K street.

IMHO, there may be some truth. Consider a circle labeled democrats. Consider another circle republicans. Consider the circles slightly overlap and make an intersection. The intersection is what democrats and republicans can agree on with a 95% vote. This intersection might be very small now. Now to get more bills done, add a few k street amendments, add in some bloat make compromises you can get a much larger area where you can win, but is it right? No.

If he cared about the country he would resign the speaker and finish his term. It should be a privilege to serve the country as a congressperson.

John Boehner resigns from congress

As I said in the other thread it seems to me like he's sick and tired of the job and just can't take it anymore. I also don't think he's doing it for money and don't care if he is, it's standard for people like him. GL to the Tea Party fool who thinks he'll be able to wave his Elder Wand and make the magic happen.

Nothing but bloviation that Boehner wants or needs K Street cash. He'd be a happy guy serving drinks in his bar and spending Saturdays with his grandkids, instead of the rabble that infests the loon wing of the GOP.

now has more time to spend tanning and smoking weed with his son-in-law.

happy trails

Good GTFO. Makes America look great when the speaker cries on a regular basis. Good riddance Mrs. Boehner

Boehner
McConnell
Obama
Pelosi
Reid

This has been a terrible group of leadership figures for America. I'll be pleased when all of them are gone.

Do we have political "leaders" or just puppets with a lead role controlled by the special interests?

He could. The party will not sign on to Jeb or Marco.

Maybe he is done with all the asshats in his party and stepping down as speaker has little impact but stepping down from congress entirely sends a much stronger message.

Maybe. Has anybody ever given up the position voluntarily?

I would like to say me neither, but he is most likely much more reasonable than his replacement is going to be.

From what I read he sounds good, but I don't know anything about him. Definitely need someone willing to compromise and not some tea party nutcase.

The job may be impossible but time will tell.

Let's See What Republicans Learn From Losing Boehner

http://www.bloombergview.com/article...losing-boehner

Question: What's the old saw that describes a person (or a political party) who hands over control to the crazies? Answer: Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves.

That's a good article. It's amazing how many Republicans don't seem to have taken a basic class on negotiation. But maybe their goal isn't to get laws they want enacted, maybe they just want to play to the base and insure their own re-election? If you shut down the government or default on debt in the process that's just a cost of doing business......
