man it's crazy to me that this is a record high for you guys when Minnesota's record state high is 114F.

Record low in MN is -60F, wonder if that is the biggest difference between high/low records in the US?

I would have never guessed the all time high in Hawaii was 89F. (Yes I know they are small Islands surrounded by a cold ocean, but still.)

I DO NOT believe this for a moment.

Counterpoint:

Quote:
Temperatures of 90 °F (32 °C) and above are quite uncommon (with the exception of dry, leeward areas). In the leeward areas, temperatures may reach into the low 90’s several days during the year, but temperatures higher than these are unusual. The highest temperature ever recorded on the islands was 100 °F (38 °C) on April 27, 1931 in Pahala.[2]

This is why Wikipedia is not super great for research except as a way to find other sources.

If you asked me to guess which US state had the lowest all-time high temperature, I don't think Hawaii would have been in my first 40 guesses.

It's hot as balls in central FL for a yuge chunk of the year but it almost never reaches 100. A few years ago it hit 100 in Orlando and it was a big deal because it was the first time it had happened in decades.

I didn't realise the extent to which winters are worse in the whole US. Every Australian state or territory has a higher lowest-ever-temperature than any US state except Florida and Hawaii. South Australia has a higher one (17.6F) than all 50 states.

I spent a "winter" in Melbourne once which reminded me of spring in Seattle.

I heard about this from Zuck like 5 years ago. From what I understand it's sort of a moral issue where he thinks that if you want to eat meat you should be prepared to kill the animal yourself. Face up to what is being done to get you your meat.

It reminds me of a Chapo ep I listened to where they were talking about the "raw water" craze amongst Silicon Valley types. They quoted some guy from an article who said that he would go out at night and cross private property in order to retrieve water from the only unpolluted spring in the Bay Area. Basically these guys have no challenge or struggle in their lives so they invent challenging hoops for themselves to jump through. It's quite reactionary when you think about it, Teutonic myth, Back To Nature kind of stuff.

Melbourne's winters are considered a downside of living there within Australia because they are so cold.

Being worth $40 billion or whatever it's probably the only thing that gives Zuck any joy because he can do literally anything he wants. Imagine what kind of pr0n he consumes.

Uh, let's examine California. It was the only state where the record high (134F), and low (-45F) were at the same location... which was Death Valley. Not a whole lotta peeps live out there.

Maybe try comparing AU capitol cities to San Diego or Los Angeles. I know San Diego is better than Perth.

Me: Explains why unpaid federal employees deserve sympathy.

ACist high school friend: "Yeah Hitler had a momma too and I'm sure she made great waffles. Cry me a river.

Do you sympathize with their victims? When you hear about some business getting shut down because it violated Clause K156 of Section 7625 of rule 257363E-6253H do you lose much sleep over the employees that have to find new jobs?

If you're a bar tender at a mafia joint, every once in a while your life might get turned upside down by mafia ****. If you sweep the floor at The Pentagon, someone might crash a plane into you. If you want the thugs in DC to pay for your local charity endeavor with some of their stolen loot, dont act surprised when they jam you up because some idiot wants to try outfail the Great Wall of China.

Whatever vital service you dont want the feds to hold hostage should be divorced from the feds."

Hawaii would have been up there for me. I would have probably guessed Alaska first. Everywhere else gets really hot at least some time. Hawaii is famous for like almost always being the same temperature.
