An Iranian naval patrol boat fired on a Singapore-flagged commercial ship in the Persian Gulf on Thursday in an apparent attempt to disable it over a financial dispute over damage to an Iranian oil platform, a U.S. official said.

The Iranians initially fired warning shots Thursday after the MT Alpine Eternity refused to move into Iranian waters. The incident took place a bit south of the island of Abu Musa just inside the Gulf, according to the U.S. official, who was not authorized to discuss details by name. The official said the U.S. military was not involved in the incident.
Can't wait for #TeamIran to defend seizing a ship and firing at it over a "financial dispute". I wonder if they'd defend any of the countries on their **** list for it.

Sounds to me like Iran is fed up with deadbeat shipping companies taking advantage of a US hegemony kowtowing to Israeli interests which prevents them from collecting money owed under international law. Good on them!

A+ thread, would click again

I don't like Iran, but this incident seems no worse than how the Mexican police shake down American motorists...and would likely chase and shoot after them if they tried to flee the stop.

I think the point I'm really trying to get across here is I think you should go back to your containment thread.

So not even a USA weakly connected flag in play here.
The gamblor, or his secretary(big lol), in their urgent need to pursue their evil race hatred of the Iranians is now gonna post commercial disputes. The game has been stepped way up.

Why isnt there a subforum for Iranian maritime disputes yet?

This is pretty normal. Lots of countries do this. Israel straight up invades ships with special forces for example and firing warning shots is SOP if required.

Uh, do you think your example is even remotely related to this one?

I guess they both had boats. That is a similarity.

Tell me more about this #TeamIran...

Is this worse or better than shooting fishermen on small boats?
